Request for T'ang players
Rather to my surprise, because some bad things had been said about the Asian armies book, the T'ang range has been quite successful:

I am thinking of expanding it as I don't currently make all the troop types. Would appreciate any feedback from T'ang players as to what they field (or would like to field) in their games which I don't currently make. Thanks!

I'm not sure I know how to play the game... but I've been most successful playing a Western Wei army. My Spartan army has VERY FEW wins and my Parthian army has even fewer.People who say bad things, don't know how to play the game. It is probably my favorite book.
The T'ang figures look awesome, by the way.

Hi Hazelbark
You're playing at the Game Parlor, right? I've been there several times - but not to play FoG though. I understand that most FoG games there are played on Wednesday nights. There is just no way I could make on a weeknight. Plus, school starts in a week (Sept 14th), which means I won't be available for another game until mid-December. Got any long-term plans to play on a weekend in December?
I'm not on a local yahoo list. Which one do you mean?
To keep this on topic...I have a handful of painted T'Ang figures, but the assortment of figures I have match the Parhae Korean list most closely. Maybe I should reconsider and just go all T'Ang.

The yahoo list is to schedule other pickup games as well.
And Walt runs games every other saturday at his place in Severna Park.

Ah the Game Parlor. I always used to go there when I had regular DC trips. Great gaming store. One of the main reasons, if my company offered me a posting in Washington, I'd take it. I envy you guys.hazelbark wrote:We also play Sunday mornings at GP.Saurocet wrote: You're playing at the Game Parlor, right? I've been there several times - but not to play FoG though. Not in the Tang era, but I crave a really decent Chinese four horse chariot to use with the early chinese armies. Xyston do some nice egyptian and persian ones, which I was I was thing of buying and then using some modified T'ang to morph them into the chinese ones.
On another note, your Germanic cavalry 4th -7th century would b excellent with scale armour and a carolingian style helm to use in a carolingian army, not sure how simple that is to do, but it would expand the figures into a wider range of armies.

Agreed it is my favorite book I think.Ghostinthemachine wrote:The asian book would have to be my fave, whoever stated that it was not good needs their head read
The early aversion to it stemmed from the lack of armoured foot and superior troops. Combined with clever list writers who made it really hard to get over 12-13 BGs in a lot of armies.
But there are a number of really good and interesting armies in there.

Yes indeed it does! Thanks.Chillimaster wrote:Would love to see some less heavily armoured MF to use as Hastily Raised Fubing (early tang) and perhaps some southern Auxiliaries to use as impact foot, also less heavily armoured than the current types.
Does that help?
So unarmoured spearmen and Southern barbarians. I'd have to ask Duncan what the barbarians would look like, but I think I know what the unarmoured foot be be like.
Why, by the way, are the T'ang spearmen "protected" when they usually have lamellar armour at least to the waist, and a shield? Just curious. Thanks.

I don't know, you'd have to ask them!dave_r wrote:I am thinking about my next army purchase now that I have cleared all my unpainted lead. I wouldn't mind having a Chinese army - does Khurasanian do a Western Han army?
But I can tell you that Khurasan doesn't.
