Early (and Later) Louis XIV Cavaliers

I have just started to use FOG R and I am enjoying the rule set.it is the best set I have seen covering this period. With my interest rediscovered in this period, I am looking to build an army from "Wars of Religion" and am looking at the Early Louis XIV army . Can someone confirm if the Cavaliers in this list should be classed as impact mounted/Swordsmen as in the main army list or Impact mounted /melee pistol as stipulated in the starter army and French Allied list.

I am surprised that nobody has picked up on this before.

Another one for the errata.

They are currently Impact Mounted, Pistol in the Later Louis XIV list. (And in the Later Swedish list).

IIRC it was certainly supposed to be Impact Horse, Swordsmen in the Early Louis XIV list although, to be honest, the choice of Swordsmen over Pistol (they still carried them and there is little direct evidence on actual preference) was so that they wouldn't be seen to be better than Polish hussars (melee Pistol trumping Swordsmen if they are steady, and the French can be Armoured in the early list) as we'd get flack for it.

Must admit I had forgotten I'd done this when doing the Later Louis XIV list I would make the Cavalier types in the later list the same as those in the early.

Agreed. Will change them in Duty & Glory and put the necessary errata in for WoR.

I presume it also applies to the Swedish ones.

The Swedes did describe it as "in the French style" so it would logically follow

What about the French Determined Horse currently rated as Impact Horse, Pistol in the Later Louis list? (The Swedes are also Determined Horse) (As, of course, are the Poles)

I assumed it was applying to all as you'd mentioned the Swedes - whether they are Cavaliers or Determined Horse isn't really relevant to their capabilities in this case.

It will leave the Finns in WoR as rather unique as they have a Pistols option, however, they are a single BG and I felt that was OK because of that.

I assumed it was applying to all as you'd mentioned the Swedes - whether they are Cavaliers or Determined Horse isn't really relevant to their capabilities in this case.
