amphibious landing cost confusion
I just succesfully conducted a Sealion in GS agains the AI. But I am still confused about the cost of the amphibious landings. I see that Germany has a sea invasion cap. of 3 and a transport limit of 4. It seemed like I could load all kinds of units from the continent for free but when I went unload them I had to pay PP's after I exceeded a limit, which I am guessing was the "sea invasion cap." But the sea inv. cap seemed to not reset for each turn. Am I also stuck paying for exceeding the naval transport limit, too? BTW, I subdued the UK by summer 41' and then transferred my good units to the Eastern front where now USSR had declared war on me but don't seem capable of mounting any kind of serious offensive. Will the AI actually invade Poland and the Balkans with any coordination?
1) loading unit into transport costs 8 PPs for all sides at all times, its not free
2) Invasion cap don't reset every turn - it regenerates over time. For USA its 1 per turn, while for germany its 1 only per 2(3?) turns.
3) I guess problems on the east you have are because invasion cap overuse, its very expencive.
All precice values and formulas are in GS manual.

Re: amphibious landing cost confusion
Transport and invasion limits are handled separately. Let's take transport first. Transport limits are check at the begin of each turn and only transports at sea count. That is, any transports in port do NOT. If the number of transports you have at sea is less than or equal to your limit then all is fine; i.e., no cost. If not then for the first three transports over you pay 4 PP's each in calm seas and 8 PP's each in rough sea. This cost doubles for the next three over and doubles again for each set of three over. For example, if your transport limit was 4 and you had 11 transports at sea then the cost would be: For transports 1, 2, 3, 4 (no cost). 5, 6, 7 (@4 PP's each) or 12 PP's. 8, 9, 10 (@8 PP's each) or 24 PP's. 11 @ 16 PP's for a total of 52 PP's. Now if this were rough seas the cost would be doubled to 104 PP's!!!jobuz wrote:I just succesfully conducted a Sealion in GS agains the AI. Now in terms of invasion you only use your invasion points we you land (i.e., unload) into an enemy controlled hex. In the case of Germany, those points regenerate at the rate of 1 point every three turns. So, if you had 3 invasion points and used them all it would be 3 turns later before you got 1 back. If you have 0 invasion points then the next invasion would cost you 35 PP's and put you at -1. If you're at -1 the next one would cost 70 PP's and put you at -2 and so on.
