Hehe I am finding one of the funny results of playing multiple games at once, is you find yourself playing a side and then railing against it, hating it, and being all upset. Then you play the other side and suddenly you love playing the battle now and it's you owning the side you previously were playing that you hated.
But wait, you set up as that side again you just finished liking, and you make a complete mess of it, and now you despise it and think it sucks.
So you play the other side you originally thought sucked, and suddenly you're in the groove and you almost feel bad for the other guy.
I've been seeing some think some sides can do no wrong, or are over powered, but really, changes do occur, and sometimes when you move a unit, if you picked the wrong time, it might be just that, you picked the wrong time to move.
I've made attacks that were completely obliterated with both sides. The dice don't much care what tanks you have if your choices are just wrong.
Hating a side, then playing it doing well and loving it

yea DS ... It's nobody's fault but your own
Remember that gent in the other forum (that abandoned ship) about the die rolls ?
I was going to post that he performed the classic "Wittmann's Last Stand"

The only known photograph of the wrecked Tiger 007, taken by French civilian Mr. Serge Varin in 1945, still in the field near Gaumesnil where it had been stopped a year before.
If you're a Zeppelin fan ... play the song "Nobody's Fault But Mine" when playing the game

Nice pic Merr
One of the best things about this game, as many people already said, is how much you realize, even when you are being smashed against the wall, that things could actually gone much differently if you just didn´t take that turn around that corner...
All in all, and even with the unavoidable luck and randomness (as real life also has), i have never played a game which i felt my tactics and decisions influence the outcome so much.
Love it! And want more! Expansions hints please!

Hmm, speaking of tactics .... I've wondered if Wittmann's Last Stand would make a good scenario ...Acererak wrote: All in all, and even with the unavoidable luck and randomness (as real life also has), i have never played a game which i felt my tactics and decisions influence the outcome so much.

Using a Google Map image with hex overlay ... I did narrow down the location several years ago ... FireFly and Tiger location's using 200m per hex.

Oh, i understand how they blew him up now....no wonder, side shot!!
I think it would make for a very interesting and exciting scenario, with a whole lot of issues for balancing it, as far as i know....one Tiger against a mass of shermans wont last long in this game. But i don´t have all details of the battle and maybe something can be worked out.
That map with hex overlay seems like a great starting point for creating a map for the game in any case.
I say go for it!
I have seen Wittman depicted in quite a few games in the past, that´s for sure.

I've played the Whittman scenario in Steel Panthers many a time.
Sometimes you drive out on to the road and blam you are shot up scenario over. Others you drive out and can't see to kill anything even though they can't do anything to you. I've drove onto the road and it's blam kill blam kill blam kill one after the other in such a way you wonder if the game is a bit screwy. One tank and you wipe out the whole damn road.
The measure of a good game is it has to be able to surprise you.
I've played enough games where it never does. Those games I try to avoid.
I've been playing both sides, and the Germans seem quite capable of being trashed if your methods suck.
I've had Shermans acting like they were Tigers too
