I think it is the simple child like pleasure of playing with tanks and doing so in a virtual sand box.
I am NOT playing BBC BA for hyper technical accuracy, I'm playing for hyper active fun!!
There ARE games out there all crammed full of almost nauseating levels of brutal accuracy, and they usually are not much better at it to be honest.
Take for instance Theatre of War. My first look at that game was more or less enough. Even without the offensive limiting garbage of eLicense, I can't see myself really wanting to call the game 'fun'. They continue to make it very puuurdy, but it fails the vroom vroom test. It doesn't feel fun.
BBC BA gives me just enough things to drive around or in the case of troops to skulk through the terrain looking for tanks.
The maps are not so big you spend too much effort map scrolling.
The controls are entirely user friendly and I don't spend all my time accessing controls. I'm spending my time going vroom vroom
The single best compliment though, is even being a diehard Civ fan, and even though I can not be counted among the complainers (I have not had any troubles myself), I am still finding BBC BA to be a better game as of late.
