Game crash

Post by PirateJock_Wargamer »

I have an ongoing game that consistently crashes every time at the same point in the replay; I have tried to run 6 times on 2 different computers at different times over the last couple of days. The game is against nitetrain and is Beta Close Combat 20 Sep 2010 07:02. I believe nitetrain had to try more than once to save it to the server at the end of his turn.

If it's possible can the game be reset at the beginning of nitetrain's last turn. If not please can you delete it. Thanks

Here is the section of the error.log relating to the last time the game crashed:

It doesn't look like it is crashing - there is no crash information in the error log.

Does the game actually end in a crash, or just sit there? If it just seems to hang, then it could be that your opponent left the game running while he did something else. We have seen this a number of times - people simply tabbing away from the game mid-turn for hours at a time. The game has to unfortunately replay all this empty space currently. So it is possible that if you just let the replay continue for 5 minutes (or more perhaps) then it will resume and the turn will finish correctly.

Cheers

Thanks for having a look. I'll run it and leave it to see if it gets going again.

Hi Pip - Just tried, leaving the scenario running for more than an hour and it's still hung. The error.log is different this time - anything useful there? Only thing I done with this run of the game was to try and get the dodgy turn to run.

If it's not possible to turn it back to the start of nitetrain's turn then could you please delete the game from the server?

Thanks

I'll grab it and take a look, if it's not recoverable then I will roll back the game.

OK - something very odd going on there. The problem is that somehow orders are trying to execute in the past and thus never being found.

Do you know whether the turn was saved and resumed, etc? Anything at all which could point to how this could happen?

I'll roll the turn back for now, but I would really like to know how it occured.

Cheers

Thanks. I'll drop nitetrain a PM just in case he's missed this thread to see if he can give more detail on how the turn was played out; I know he was having problems saving his turns back to the server when this one was done.

Hi Pip

Don't know if nitetrain has got back to you yet. Tried the game over the weekend and the turn on the server was the same one that was causing the problem initially. When I tried it it hung at the same point again. Was the game supposed to be on that turn? .... not sure what rolling back the turn meant :?

I think there was only one game between you two? I will check again.

OK - it should now be rolled back, ready for nitetrain to retake the prior turn.

Strangely the game appears to hangs at the 'same' place - with infantry getting suppressed!

Nitetrain - did you play the same moves as it looked vaguely familiar?

I think this game is looking like a dead'un - will it be possible to have it deleted?

Thanks
