. I really don't think that my own opinion will warrant much, but my next biggest desire would be a fantasy set of rules (not sci-fi).
But my next big desire would be for some generic fantasy armies. This would probably be the hardest set as there are so many different high fantasy concepts for dragons, elves, dwarves, orcs, and the undead; but if this thread is even glanced at by the game designers, I would like them to know the wishlist one of their dedicated fans.

I can't claim any special knowledge (unlike say, Messrs Gaukroger and Briggs), but my guess is that the very last thing you are likely to see is official FoG fantasy rules. Whilst it is a very big potential market, the fantasy sector is of course heavily contested already, mainly by GW, but not to forget the likes of LOTR, D&D and so forth. Whilst I am sure that Slitherine/Osprey would love to capture that market, it's a huge task, given GW's position and the marketing publicity associated with film franchises - it's unclear how they could ever achieve that sort of mass-market exposure.

Not that this would preclude adapting Fog to handle fantasy elements yourself, but it does seem to be another request for spoonfed material. Why not write your own lists based on LoTR?

Important distinctions. I just hope that FoG II is better organized, with loose ends tied up. Many seem to want radical changes in game concept and evaluation of troop capabilities based on snits rather than historical examples.

The BHGS will offer whatever people will turn up to play, I suspect. In addition to 4 FoG:AM and 1 FoG:R Beta tourney, the most recent BHGS event (Britcon) ofered people the opperunity to play Warhammer, DBM, DBMM, and Armati in the Ancients, with the offer to include others if people wanted it (and 6 games were viable in terms of entrants). There were 8 other non-FoG periods offered.

As for the army lists and rules, I doubt I have spent more than gbp 164 over 2 years and I have everything bar one that has been officially released in the UK. Maybe I have just been lucky in the prices I have paid. Even once I have ALL the FoG:R as well I doubt it will exceed gbp 268 over 3 years.

Tim you've not bought them all! joking aside Jon if you don't want to buy all only buy those that you want. If you play in a comp and the player oppisite you is playing an army from a book you've not got( or if you have it do you really want to carry 12 or 13 ancient army lists to an event). Ask him before you start to have a look at the list in the book. This would save you having to buy all the books. I'm going to do that with the 3rd and 4th Ren books.

Dave - I don't buy things in with S*ss*n*d or S*l*cc*d Persians in. I had purchased the Principate Roman book before I knew better but did not get the one with the other Persian lists.

I hope you will reconsider not getting FoG:R book 3. Clash of Empires has some of the most interesting lists (it covers the service of Mansfeld Senior if that helps you make up your mind). I can see that book 4 may be more of a stretch.

I dont mind buying things once....and Im happy to pay for the better production of the osprey supported offerings, but I get the hump when what Ive bought is deemed not good enough by the people who sold me it then they charge me for a replacement product that corrects the things they got wrong in the first one!
