Alexandrian Macedonian List

Post by petedalby »

Our 8th game was Alexandrian Macedonian vs. Classical Greek which gave us another good run through of the rules. The Greeks achieved a decisive victory in just over 2.5 hours.

The Alexandrian list was hampered by 2 compulsory FC Generals, and that was without buying Alexander as an IC!

It seems unfair to restrict some lists in this way whereas the Greeks could field all TC's, including up to 3 as Allies.

I would prefer to see most armies with just one compulsory FC, who can then be upgraded to an IC if appropriate. The rating is relatively subjective but could give some lists a significant advantage / disadvantage.

Any views?

I played this list once.
I don't remember precisely how much, but I was surprised by the total cost of the minimum compulsory troops (over 400 points at least IIRC).
Best regards

What exactly should be done about compulsory generals has not yet been decided, but we will probably end up with only 1 compulsory IC or FC in any army. I suggest that you assume that for all test games from now on.

Our final check on each army list before publication will be to ensure that minima are within a certain range and that maxima are sufficient.

Can we also assume where a list has a compulsory FC General and the option of an IC that the FC can be upgraded to an IC?
Example late Crusader has 0-something IC, 1-something FC, 0-something TC. This implies if you want Richard as an IC you also have an FC sub.

Yes. I will try to get this all sorted out in the army lists soon.
