NATO symbols for Commonwealth forces

Post by Peter Stauffenberg »

We're implementing separate NATO symbols for the CW forces so they can be distinguished from the British units. The counters will have the exterior of their British parent color (yellow) to show they're British. In addition we will make separate roundels for these countries and these will also be shown if you use images. Paul is working on making them at the moment.

This is how they will look like:

Game play will not be altered because of this. The units are for the game British and will use British tech levels. In order to show the CW forces
you simply rename the counter to use the country name (e. g. Canada or Canadian) to show the following countries:
* Australia
* Canada
* India
* New Zealand
* Poland
* South Africa

Some units are already on the map like this and will have these colors. All units beginning in Canada will look Canadian. In addition 2 Australian corps and 1 Indian are at the map in the Middle East. The others will have to be added by the players by renaming the default name of the unit. So now the Allied player can get e. g. a Canadian armor corps or the Polish 2nd Corps (as included in the 1944 scenario) and so on.

GS v1.10g

Commonwealth Country Specific Graphics

21. The following British, or Commonwealth, units that are name or renamed will have their own country specific unit graphics. This allows players all over the world to easily customize their British forces by just including the following “key” in a unit’s name to “unlock” the country’s specific unit graphic for that country.
a. Canada or Canadian
b. Australia or Australian
c. India or Indian
d. New Zealand
e. South Africa or South African
f. Poland or Polish

Elite Unit Specific Graphics

22. German units with names that include “SS” with trigger German SS NATO images.

23. Soviet units with names that include “Guards”, “GDS” or “Gds” will trigger Soviet Guards NATO images.

24. Soviet units that reach experience level 3 will automatically be promoted to Guards.

25. NATO images for all countries at zoom level 3 will now show a number of dots equal to the experience level for each unit.
