I just purchasedCEaW (the slitherine version) and I can't get the game to start. I have tried all of the suggestions in the stickies. I have installed 3 times. I sometimes get a quick dos screen, sometimes not. I am the administratorI tried updating to GS. No joy. I get the following at the top of all of the error logs:
An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:

# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x00a116fc, pid=3652, tid=3492

# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_16-b02 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:

Pls help.
System info from error log:
OS: Windows XP Build 2600 Service Pack 3
CPU:total 1 (cores per cpu 1, threads per core 2) family 15 model 3 stepping 3, cmov, cx8, fxsr, mmx, sse, sse2, sse3, ht
OK I kept reading older posts so I tried more of the suggestions. I turned off (using crap cleaner) anything that resembled an antivirus program and rebooted, then tried it with windowed mode set to 0 and tried it set to 1. There never have been any setting.txt files in any my documents folders so I put some there in various places within the CEAW folder (they all start off blank). So I'm up to about 8 reinstalls now and still no joy. Here's the latest error log file in its entirety. A fix would be greatly appreciated. ver1.12

I fixed mine. I'm not exactly sure how. I may investigate further if I get bored. Here's what I did. I ran windows update and installed all the suggested updates. I updated java. I updated my nvidia drivers. The game still didn't start. Then I used crap cleaner to shutdown the startup of everything that didn't look critical to running windows and dumped all my cookies and other suggested junk in my registry. IT WORKED!!! The only downside is that my internet seems slower but that could be the cookies. Some of the earlier steps may have contributed to my success. Who knows?
