This game sure is cutting into my internet forum posting time :)

Can't seem to stop starting the game up to see if there is a new turn waiting.

The small mill on the Desert Fort map is a deathpit for my german troops, i gave up on it long time ago.

In one game I totally owned the fort, so what, the darned Jerries still rolled up in tracks and shot my butt off.

Possession is NOT 9/10ths of the law in this game :)

I have found the ideal set up is troops with good anti infantry fire backing them up. Shoot at the infantry with infantry and their back up gets ya.

Good infantry defense against armour involves anywhere it is hard to shoot at your infantry from a distance by that armour.

My wife is so irritated with the MP background music playing over and over again.

Hah, yeah. I have been meaning to post something somewhere, about the game being awesome and that, for some time now. It's just that I end up starting up the game instead.

Also been meaning to keep progressing through them single-player campaigns, but multiplayer appears to have me entirely distracted. That's okay.

Remember you don't have to start up the game to check for new turns - just use the system tray tool. It's tiny and unobtrusive. Checks about every minute or so. I use it whenever I have games on the go (i.e. whenever I feel like being soundly thrashed by allcomers...)

Cheers

Is there a set time limit to reply/respond to a "your turn" notification?

I only boot into Windows to play this one game (yes, I think it's so good it deserved it's own Boot Camp partition), mostly keeping myself in the OSX side of my 27" iMac. I'm not sure how responsive a player I'd be given that I don't every X hours reboot to get to Windows.

If there isn't such a time limit, and my opponents are OK with some occasional delay (I would boot into Windows regularly if I had a MP game going, of course), I"m going to have to join in.

Awesome, thanks.

LATER EDIT ... After the just-announced Mac version comes out it'll be much much easier for me to participate in MP games.

Which actually brings up a topic that i was thinking about...

Is there an etiquette for how long someone should reasonable wait for a turn...given time differences and work/family obligations is 24 hours as a max fair?

BTW...i started my first 3 mp games so sign me up!

cheers,

I have a few games that seem a bit 'quiet' but no worries. I don't mind a wait between turns as long as the player forewarns me they can only do say a turn a day on their lunch break for instance.

I think proper etiquette would be to disclose to the opponent if their will be delays, or what sort of schedule can be expected.

Myself, I look in the morning for active games and then I do so all darn day :) But my circumstances permit that. I have noticed a burst of activity at specific times of day likely due to time zones. It's morning here, but it won't be morning everywhere.

I don't consider a game 'forfeit' just because a person had a day where suddenly they had to handle some task out of the blue and then couldn't get back to me till a day later.
That's the beauty of turn based games.

I think a turn a day is fine. I work so the only time I can play is about a 2-3 hour block in the afternoon and I think that is reasonable. There was one night when all of my oponents were online so I traded PBEM turns for two straight hours.

Started my first 2 games last night ... as expected school boy errors abound :( Excuse being I only got the game a couple of days ago and still learning. Not a huge number of available games on the server(s) - a lot are password-protected. Is there somewhere else I should be looking or is it just a case of building up contacts by setting up challenges? :(

EDIT: Just seen I've played 18 games which isn't right. Any ideas?

Three games going and completed a few already. So far I have yet to win but maybe that will change soon.
