Questions for USK

Having now sat down to try and work out the killer army for Usk, I have a few questions please.

1. As there is no reference to 'naphtha bombs' in the current set of the rules, I take it they will not be used?

2. The stampeding cattle in the Indian army list, are these treated as scythed chariots?

3. Is there any restrictions on the formations that mixed troop type BGs can use? Can the light foot in a mixed BG with heavy foot deploy on the flanks or as the front rank? If not can they expand in a melee to form an overlap?

4. Where a BG is made up of heavy foot spear and medium foot bow, do the bow have to be deployed behind the spear or can the spear form a two rank formation with the bow in two ranks on both or one flank of the spear?

5. Am I correct in thinking that lance armed cavalry who are also armed with bow * still count as shock troops?

Hopefully I have not given any clues as to what we are thinking of using

There will be rules for them, but they have not been agreed yet. Not therefore useable at Usk.

Relegated to a campaign stratagem (future suppllement). Not useable in standard AoW. They will be removed from the list.

No restrictions as such. We do need to write some rules about rearranging such formations methinks. There really isnt much point in deploying the LF in an mixed BG at the front, they would not get enough dice to cause a CT.

I didn't know if this would be a good formation to move through difficult terrain? Assuming the light foot would be OK and the heavy foot disordered. I can't think of a good reason to do it, but that does not stop others

My thinking was that against mounted the single rank of spear works well, but against foot the single rank do not get any POA. So if you have 4 elements of spear in two ranks and 4 elements of bow in two ranks at least some of your infantry would get a POA. This makes the units fighting more efficent, but maybe not historical.
