Where's the 1.3.5 update download link?
I've looked around at Slith and Matrix but I can't see any link

Pretty sure it auto updates when you run the game launcher.PoorOldSpike wrote:I've looked around at Slith and Matrix but I can't see any link

Okay thanks, the updater kicked in when I launched the game.
I like the new unlim zoom..
But I take it there's still no option to elevate our eyes up towards the horizon when we're close to ground level?
I've just updated my review here-

What if there's an enemy Tiger tank just down the road but we can't see it because BA doesn't allow us to raise our eyes?pipfromslitherine wrote:..The problem is that there isn't anything to see..
Virtually every other 3D wargame on the market allows us to raise our eyes.
If you can program it into BA go ahead and it'll double your sales, your call..

If you mean dragging the map (scrolling), that's not as realistic as simply raising your eyes to look down the road.insidius wrote:Why can't you just pan the map so that the tank is in view?
Perhaps I've explained it badly, so let me try to post a couple of screenshots from another typical game-
In the top picture, our eyes are looking downwards at a 45-degree angle towards the road, like in BA.
But in the second picture we can simply raise our eyes and see a beautiful sight, but BA doesn't allow us to do that.

Since you are looking down on the battlefield as if you are sitting on a helicopter/satellite/mount Olympus, I don't think the "lack of looking up" makes it any less realistic. This is a top down view camera, while other games choose for a more "FPS" style camera.
The game is perfectly playable without ever rotating or zooming. I'm not a big fan of games which focus on zooming and all sorts of fancy camera movements to get "spectacular" but totaly unplayable views.

I tend to agree. In this game in particular, I don't even like rotating the camera; I find I lose the 'lay of the land' in my head when I do. Very rarely do I rotate at all.adherbal wrote:Since you are looking down on the battlefield as if you are sitting on a helicopter/satellite/mount Olympus, I don't think the "lack of looking up" makes it any less realistic. There are thousands of games players out there (including me) who are used to having a fully 360-degree viewing system, and we would never be able to get used to BA's restriction of not being able to raise our eyes towards the horizon.
So for that reason BA's sales figures will suffer badly.
If BA's programmers can fix it i'd strongly urge them to go ahead, they've got nothing to lose..

POS has been around Combat Mission forums for a long time. His point is indeed important in a true 3D game where you have to read the terrain and LOS obstructions.
Not at all relevant in this game.
I would be nice to have the pendulum motion view of Matrix Operation Barbarossa in order to close view the units and objects for eye candy reasons, but not necessary to play the game.

Ah I see, so you're saying BA is not 'a true 3D game'.junk2drive wrote:POS has been around Combat Mission forums for a long time. His point is indeed important in a true 3D game where you have to read the terrain and LOS obstructions. Not at all relevant in this game.
If everybody's happy with it being less than a true 3D game, i'll leave you all to it and butt out..

It's not really a true 3d game though, it seems more of an isometric game to me, but then I just woke up and I'm not thinking straight right now.
No one's telling you to butt out, hell, I wish everyone enjoyed the game, all I'm saying is that what you're asking for doesn't really fit this particular game.
