Ptolemy triumphant

Post by batesmotel »

The revolting peasants in Judaea have been shown the error of their ways.

Ptolemaic: 2984/12900 29/43 (win)
Judaean: 7263/18300 61/61 (lose)

Aetolia has been liberated from the pretenders from Macedon and reunited to the true successor of the house of Philip and Alexander.

Ptolemaic: 4323/12900 36/43
Macedonian: 6390/14400 56/48

Back from holydays I’m going to make a little summary of the turn at the moment.

The Ptolemaics have beaten the Macedonians in Aetolia, have repulsed the Macedonian attack in Thessalia and finally have also defeated the revolt in Judaea.
The province of Aetolia has not still be conquered by the Ptolemaics, yet, because the Macedonians had a temporary fortification there, whose effect will be determined by the lottery draw of Tuesday 17th (first number on the Firenze column).
The Seleucids have repulsed the Macedonian attack in Mysia.
The Paeonians have defeated the Macedonians in Paeonia and have conquered the province.
The Gauls have defeated the Pannonians in Pannonia and have conquered the province.

The battle between Lysimachos (Pyrrhic) vs razorback77 (Romans) in Bruttium has already been started.

We still have to begin the following battles:
- petergarnett (Carthaginians) vs razorback77 (Illyrians) in Melita,
- petergarnett (Attalids) vs Lysimachos (Seleucids) in Bithynia,
with petergarnett having the burden of launching both challenges.

I'm really sorry for him.

We will wait until he has recovered all his physical and technical problems!

Peter sounds as if he may be out of action for quite awhile.

So what are we going to do now?

A solution would be to take the command of the carthaginians alternatively each turn, but this would ruin the play of Peter.
Otherwise we could freeze the position of the Punic empire until he comes back (no moves and no attack against them).

Any suggestion is welcomed!

Here's what Peter wrote on Aug. 7:

"Sorry gents but I've been off ill for several weeks now & I'm still some way off recovering. Also have had the PC crash so have been unable to restore it fully for ages. Hope it's going OK but realistically it may be better if someone takes over as I could be out of action for many more weeks."

We could recruit someone as a caretaker player until such time as he recovers, or reluctantly replace him. I bet Morbio would happily be a caretaker, but he is on vacation for two weeks. For a permanent or temporary replacement, a local friend of mine has just discovered FoG PC and might be interested .

Well, if there are no objections from the other players you could ask your friend if he would be glad to take care of the Punic empire for a while.
In this case he could then launch the two challenges that are still pending against me and razorback77.

Let us know if the answer is positive!

By the way, the lottery draw of Tuesday 17th on the Firenze wheel was a 31, wich means that the fortification in Aetolia didn't withstand the Ptolemaic siege and was destroyed.
So the province is fallen in the hands of the invader.

The Melitans held the field against the Carthaginians invaders and are still free.

Melitans 18600/5450 54/62

Carthaginians 13560/4346 50/48

Nice game John, great to have you on board.

There's nothing more to do until the turn officially wraps up, which it probably will right after that game. The next turn will start after a lottery draw which will possibly generate random invasions, alliances, disasters, etc. At that point you get to make decisions based on the number of points you've got and PM them to Lysimachos and the next turn begins.

Well, also the last two battles of the 5th turn are ended now, with the Seleucids (24/41) repulsing the attack of the Attalids (43/43) in Bithynia and the Italiots (35/49) gaining a victory over the Romans (42/41), thus earning the independence of Bruttium.

Unfortunately after the holydays I'm terribly busy with my job so you'll have to be patient for a while (about 7-10 days) until I prepare the summary of the 5th turn.
Then we'll be able to start the 6th turn at full speed.

Alas family and job commitments prevent me from carrying on the campaign, whose costant ordering really takes a lot of time with all the fullfilments related to the lottery draws, the control about the lawfulness of every action, the drafting of the summary and the updating of the map.
So, having no more than ¾ of an hour left only per some days a week I prefer to dedicate my free time in playing some battles rathrer in preparing all the above mentioned stuff.

Consequently, unless some of the player likes to take my place as rulemaster, it is my opinion that we should declare Batesmotel as the winner, owning by far at the moment the greater number of provinces, buildings and stability levels.

In order to make this decision more agreeable and given the fact that some players may like, at least, to run a solo campaign (wich is really easier and faster to handle) I prepared a rule-book, a map and a Cyberboard module to manage it that can be downloaded in this thread:
viewtopic.php?p=180175#180175
hoping this little gadget will fullfil everybody’s demands! 8)
