Beginners Question

Post by Belis4rius »

I just downloaded FOG and SOA yesterday. I want to get used to the system before jumping into Multiplayer but I guess it won't be so long as I enjoy fighting humans more than the AI. However I also want to be able to play against my son.

Can someone kindly point me in the direction of help or information on how we would go about choosing our own armies from the points list, getting a map to fight over and then deploying and starting? I cannot seem to find this info very easily.

I assume you mean to play vs your son on the same computer? ie Hotseat? Unfortunalety there is no hotseat mode (at least not yet) for using the DAG lists ... You can of course play any of the scenarios inluded with the game, any custom scenarios you download (or create) via Hotseat.
Basically, the DAG lists are only used for MP server games.
Hope this clarifies, cheers!

No, I want to do it over the MP system PBEM, I have had another look round, it would seem I make up my army list in DAG, save it, then set up the game, locked I would take it so he can join. But how do we get his army in on the act.

Basically I want us both to choose from a points list then fight it out MP.

Part of the process when he accepts your challenge and enters the password is to pick his army. That is where his army would be uploaded.

That is correct, make up/save your army list and then log onto the server thru the game, set up a challenge with that army . If you want to be guaranteed to play vs a specific person then you should set it up password protected, that way when your son logs in he will see your challenge and can accept it (assuming you gave him the password :) )
He would do the same on his end in regards to saving his army he is going to fight you (basically, whenever you issue or accept a challenge, the game has you chose from the list of saved armies you have)
Sorry, i just assumed you wanted to play Hotseat with the dag, it is one of those requested items on the wishlist.

Both of you make up an army of your choice with the same point value.
One of you makes a password protected challenge. You pick you army when the challenge is posted.
The other picks your game and enters the password then picks his army.
Maps are random so you don't get a choice on them.
One of you will deploy first then the other deploys and gets to move.
Have fun
