The Battle of the Great Plains was fought in North Africa during the Second Punic War near the city of Utica. The Carthaginians with their hastily raised levies, Spanish mercenaries, and Numidian allies, were defeated by the Romans led by Publius C. Scipio (Scipio Africanus).
