One week on and my thoughts so far. I really enjoy this game .I find it fun and a bit of a throwback to the old days .The graphics are suffice and the whole thing moves along at a swift pace. I like the uncertainty of tank battles where a tank may take 5 or 6 hits or maybe just one before it brews up. This makes it exciting and sometimes frustrating. One scenario where you have to capture a small bridge was quite incredible to play and I just failed in the end. I attacked with everything I had but next time I will give it a bit more thought. The "assets" at your disposal are there for a reason and are superb for suppressing the enemy, allowing your units to move. This is essential for infantry at close quarters because bren carriers and trucks cannot take them everywhere and they are very vulnerable to ambush .Downside ? None really, but I wonder if it is a bit dynamic. e.g. if you are doing badly does it kick in more units as reinforcements ? .I sometimes wonder. One scenario in the desert had me attacking a retreating enemy through 2 defended passes. It was tough but I managed to destroy most of the enemies tanks. Imagine my surprise when he counter attacked and kicked my botty with 5 or 6 replacements ,virtually wiped me out and finished the game. The point is, if he was so strong why was he retreating anyway? .Never mind though, I will get him next time .And that's where the strength lies in this game its the replayability, because the scenarios are big enough to play more than once and there are achievements which can be improved next time round . 30 scenarios is fair considering the cost which I think is very reasonable and I am looking forward to the battle of the bulge which I think will be very tough. Cannot wait to tinker with the editor also. I have played dozens of wargames over the years and this sits up there with the best of them.

I have to chime in as well...i've been so busy playing i haven't given any feedback!
Well, for me this is a better version of the Panzer General series of games. Although BA is much better balanced with excellent game play mechanics. It's funny but with this little gem the devil is in the details. If you allow yourself to get lulled by the "comic" appearance of the graphics you might miss the fact that there is a really great wargame here. I love how every single mission requires thought and in my case...repetition....lots of it! heh
While the game is in it's infancy with the community, i believe that the modding tools that have been provided will provide this game with some serious longevity once the modders amongst us start putting up some of their maps. I hope that we'll see more games built on this engine.
My only negative is while i understand the reasoning behind not carrying core units from battle to battle i wish there was some mechanism that got me more vested in playing the SP campaign. I'm for one love to see my units gain xp and develop new skills. This was accomplished masterfully in Legion Arena and COM. However, as said i understand this was a conscious design choice and i'm adjusting!
Great job again guys...another fun game.
cheers,

The editor is incredibly easy to use ,although i need some tuition on how to edit/write scripts. I designed a scenario around the Market Garden operation, Arnhem. It took me 20 mins to do and it needs a lot of work to it yet ,but it was great fun and i think a full Arnhem campaign would be easy to write. The manual is a bit basic if you ask me although i concede there is nothing complex about this game. I am trying to find some battle maps of Arnhem to see if i can do a realistic job . We`ll see.
