Armenians

Post by winder »

Hey all

new to the game and I've been looking through some books and I liked the look of the Armenian army from Rise of Rome, I'm buying the starter list this weekend and was wondering what people would recommend to fill the list out to 800 points. As a newb to the game I was thinking some pikemen, it seems that I will struggle vs knights with the list and thought that might be a way to combat it, but any help is appreciated.

I don't think there are enough pikemen in that list to make it worthwhile taking them, IMHO (unless yopu take imitation legionaries as well to bulk up the heavy foot centre - but obviously they are not quite so comforting against the possibility of knights). If your thoughts lie in the pike direction, something like Graeco-Bactrian might be a good alternative for you. Or even later Seleucid. Depends on how much emphasis you want to put on the horse archers.

Bactrian is a good army, you can get cats that will be the equivalent of knights, you can have pikes and the horse archers come in handy too. My opponents Romans don't like my Bactrians, too many cats they always say.
