Fighter Escort Range

Post by _Augustus_ »

Hello,

A non-sentry enemy fighter intercepts your bomber if the bomber's target is with the fighters attack range. But I couldn't find range for your own escort fighter specified in the manual(s). I might have just missed it of course. What is the prerequisite for your escort fighter to combat with the enemy fighter coming to intercept? The bomber's target needs to be within the attack range again?

I've also noticed that fighters that are in range sometimes don't seem to intercept if they are particularly weak. I'm not sure about the number, but less than 1/2 strength, say. Is that true, or is something else going on?

Below 5 steps of strength, fighters units doesn´t intercept at all.

If that's the case, maybe a mention of the fact would be another worthy addition to the manual?

_augustus_ //Again I'm looking at this from a newbie point of view. I realize the GS manual is writen more towards an more experienced CEaW player who wants to know what is different in the mod. But isn't gaming the GS pretty much the norm by now?

The GS manual is written as an ADDITION to the CeaW manual provided by the vanilla game. The GS manual is intended to document the differences from the vanilla game to the people who already know the vanilla game. Knowledge of the vanilla game is required to fully understand GS. Remember that GS is an expansion to CeaW vanilla and not a separate game.

The concept of fighter interception being deactivated when the strength of the unit goes below 5 steps is a part of the vanilla game. The ability to put fighters and CV's on sentry to not intercept when they could have is a GS addition and thus documented in the GS manual.
