This was from a post by RBS a page or so down (25mm basing):

Here is a Later English civil war 600 point starter army as an example:

Later English Civil War Royalist (1644) starter army
Commander-in-Chief 1 Field Commander
Sub-Commanders 2 2 x Troop Commander
Horse 2 BGs Each comprising 4 bases of horse: Superior, Armoured, Cavaliers – Impact Pistol, Melee Pistol
Horse 2 BGs Each comprising 4 bases of horse: Average, Unarmoured, Cavaliers – Impact Pistol, Melee Pistol
Foot 1 BG 6 bases of foot: 2 Superior, Unarmoured, Heavy Foot – Pike; and 4 Average, Unarmoured, Medium Foot – Musket
Foot 2 BGs Each comprising 6 bases of foot: 2 Average, Unarmoured, Heavy Foot – Pike; and 4 Average, Unarmoured, Medium Foot – Musket
Firelocks 1 BG 4 bases of firelocks: Superior, Unarmoured, Medium Foot – Musket
Commanded shot 2 BGs Each comprising 2 bases of commanded shot: Average, Unarmoured Medium Foot – Musket
Dragoons 1 BG 3 bases of dragoons: Average, Unarmoured, Dragoons – Musket
Camp 1 Unfortified camp
Total 11 BGs Camp, 16 mounted bases, 29 foot bases, 3 commanders

Gives some idea of army size, at least for later stuff. Earlier I'd bet gain more bases per BG.

Depends upon the army. 12 BG seems average to me. I would not worry if I had 12 BG in an 800 point list - I have played with 9 BG and that is just too small.

That same post by RBS (look for "basing 25mm") mentioned all the base sizes.

From what I gather it will be similar to DBR basing for Dragoons. basically a double sized base with 3 shooters up front and a horse holder and a couple of mounts out back. Saves the need for double figs for mounted and dismounted figs.
