number of dice
Hi i am sure this question has been asked before....but.....
2 Disrupted units of Heavy weapon 3 bases in front and 3 bases of Crossbow behind
fight one unit of knights of 4 bases in front. This unit fights each foot with 2 bases.
How many dice does the foot get at impact?
How many dice does the foot get at melee if impact no losses and no morale loss?
thx guys!

Re: number of dice
Right if the Crossbow are medium foot each unit gets four front rank bases two rear rank being disrupted they lose 1 per three as there four front rank they would lose one of the two dice for support shooting they would lose one crossbow. leaving three front rank one crossbow.Jilu wrote:Hi i am sure this question has been asked before....but.....

In melee if they did'nt go down they would each have six dice going down to four dice for being disrupted not bothering about the rear rank as no support shooting this time.

Dice are lost in proportion to the number you start with.
In this example the three front rank generate 6 dice and the three rear rank support shooters generate another 3.
This means there are 6 dice at the front rank POA and 3 at the suppport shooting POA. As there are two groups of 3 frot rank dice then you lose 2 dice (one for each group of three) and one dice from the 3 support dice.
If only two files were fighting you would get 4 front rank and 2 support dice. This would give one group of 3 front rank dice so one of these dice is lost. This leaves 1 front rank plus 2 support dice so still three dice so 1 must be lost. As there are more support shooting dice a support shoting dice must go.
With only one file there would only be 3 dice, 2 front rank and 1 support. In this case one dice must be lost and as there are more front rank dice then one of them goes.
The bets way I have found to do this is to put our all the dice you would have if you were not disrupted and then collect together sets of three the same. Every set of three the same loses a dice and the other two remain. Keep doing this until you have a mixed set or fewer than three dice. If there is a mixed set then you lose one of the dice you have the most of, if there are fewer than three dice then you lose nothing.

Is that in the appendix somewhere?hammy wrote:

Not as such but that is the way it works.footslogger wrote:Is that in the appendix somewhere?hammy wrote:

Remember that the sets need to be on the same POA from the same BG against the same enemy BG. When one BG is facing three enemy BGs it can get quite complex.

No, thats in shooting were bases combine to get dice. They combine at the worst POA. e.g. a superior LF longbow and a poor LF XBow would get one dice as poor XBow in effect.kevinj wrote:I had always thought that if you had to lose a dice where different POAs were involved you lost one of the better ones, not one of the majority type.
