Cataphracts and Bursting Through Friends

1. Can Catapharats pass through (interpenetrate) light foot? We assumed "no".

2. The owner of the cataphracts wanted to charge but would have had to "burst through" some friendly light foot. Can the cataphracts voluntarily "burst throught" friends?

3. If the BG was (say, Macedonian Companions; Cav/Lance) and wanted to charge through their own skirmishing light foot; is this allowed?

Only if they fail a test as shock mounted and charge. They cannot charge voluntarily.

No is Correct

Burst through is never voluntary, you have to hope you fail the roll

You can't charge through another BG even if you can legally interpenetrate them

Here is the catch, Light foot can pass through anyone, but they can not be passed through except by other lights.
You can't pass through your lights ever unless you are lights yourself. Its a one way street on that one.

Better tell your cataphract player to hope he rolls poorly on the CMT not to charge and rolls well on impact and melee.

Think you have it wrong there Cavalry,light horse light chariots and elephants can pass through light foot in any direction Light foot can pass through any troops in any direction, page 48 bullet point 2 and 3

I forgot about some of those since I don't use chariots and my elephants never seem to have to worry about the lights. Mostly in this case I was trying to point out you can't voluntarily send your cav or cats through LF. its just most people assume if lights can move through stuff then stuff can move through them
