Why no poor Arogonese Crossbow?

Post by MatthewP »

I was having another look at my Crown of Aragon army and thought about expanding the number of battlegroups by bulking out with some poor LF crossbow. Unfortunately they aren't allowed any which makes it very difficult to increase the BG count (from 12) without which they are sadly flawed [Insert anti swarm rant here]. The Medieval Portuguese and the Medieval Castillians can have hundreds of them. I was wondering what the historical reason was for this difference or (he adds hopefully) is it a mistake. Or more cynically was it ommitted to make the army list fit the page. :D

Thanks

Matthew

It is not a mistake. Aragonese crossbowmen had a very good reputation.

And nothing whatsoever has been omitted from any FOG book to make stuff "fit on a page".
(Apart from the FOG play-sheets - and even that policy has been reversed in FOGR).

Berserkers, Cataphract scythed chariots, War dogs, something some Roman bloke said about destroying Carthage again.

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

A worthy effort though.
