2nd Battle in Berkshires

Post by batesmotel »

Phanagoria has discovered that dismounted knights make poor targets compared to mounted ones but has won the day with numbers none the less. (Maybe there is something to this horde thing.)

Phannagoria/Batemotel (Bosporan-mid) -win
15,000/2,511 50/23

Englandia/davidfagnand (Med. Burgundian) - lose
9,000/4,160 30/30

Since this is the second loss, Englandia must cede the area or stand siege.

If my understanding is correct, once you lose 2 battles you lose the province. The option to retreat into the city (and stand siege) is only available after the 1st loss. I'm sure Peter will confirm.

I wasn't sure if the option to stand siege still existed or not. It isn't clear in the current rules write up as far as I could tell.

Chris
You can only opt for a siege after the first battle. Lose 2 battles as defender & you lose the area.

Ah, my dear Blathering-gut. Of course there will be another battle. De-feet is not an option for de-army. Prepare to be de-Blathered.

Second battle of Laphroaig

Post by davouthojo »

The highlanders fight best when up against the wall, defending their freedom....

The Phangorian army outmanoevred us, so we had to leave the mountain-tops and bogs of Laphroaig, and fight them in open terrain for their knights and spearmen, with impassible hills preventing our standard envelopment tactics, the marshy passes between the impassible hills sealed tight by their sword and bucklermen...........

To add to the challenge, reinforcements for Phangoria (club card) meant that instead of a 30% advantage, the highlanders had to fight at a 10% disadvantage.......but they prevailed!

WIN for Clan Braveheart defending Laphroaig
Casualties 4,859/15,000 37/50

vs

Phangoria
Casualties 6,374/14,700 58/49

With a second defeat for Phangoria, their unprovoked invasion is repulsed.
Since this is the second time they invaded, they need to be taught not to attack Clan Braveheart.

We follow up their fleeing forces and invade Phangoria, traversing the territory of our blood ally, the Covenanter Empire and with the kind permission of Utopia to strike this common foe.

Well, it's tempting to make one more try...I know I told you I'd leave but lets wait for the numbers from PG before I make a final decision 8)

Second Battle of Sambre

Post by deeter »

The Utopians are pleased to announce (via the Daily Mail) that the Romanesque invaders from Tuam are no more.

Results:

Utopia: 11,400/1,490 (7/38) WIN
Tuam: 9,000/2,929 (30/30)

The outnumbered Tuamians huddled together on a steep hill where they were pummeled by the more numerous Utopians skirmishers. Eventually, anarchy brought the legionairs down into the open and slaughtered. The Tuam comander died in melee and their camp was sacked. Hopefully, this will teach Tuam to show more respect for the Fifth Estate.

Utopia will now prepare a counter invasion if passage to Tuam can be arranged.

1st battle of ??, Kappadokia vs new Albia. (Not sure which province)

The training exercise for our future allies the New Albians unfortunately was not without bloodshed. Ah well, you cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs.

Kappadokian victory.

Losses:

New Albia (Romans) 4351/10800 (39/36)

Kappadokia (Seleucids) 1252/13800 (6/46)

Discussion re the terms of our future alliance are in progress.

The Battle was for NOVU - a very dear province to me BUT I am giving serious consideration to the peace discussions currently ongoing!!

The Territory map has been updated.

Please could everyone review the map and let me know of any inaccuracies; wrong ownership of province, missing battles, etc.

Thanks,
Morbio

Battle vs New Albia

Post by davouthojo »

Success for the Spaniards in the first battle attacking New Albia (what province?)

Win for Clan Braveheart (Spanish) attacking
Casualties 3,820/19,500 27/65

vs New Albia (Romans) defending
Casualties 4,568/12,600 44/42

Will the Albanians cede the province, fight again or retire to a city?

Map updates:
Phangoria (18) repulsed from Laphroaig
Tuan (24) repulsed from Lemnos
Canaan (14) now attacking Laphroaig

Hypoxia (10) second battle won, which province?
New Albia (1) I am attacking, which province?

The Rhoman Empire announces two battle results -

In Amazonia (first encounter)

batesmotel (Bosporan) attackers, 16500/3577 28/55 (win)
maximvs (Roman) defenders, 15900/5754 (lose)

the Rhomans will re-group and continue the struggle - unless Chris does the honourable thing and retreats while his luck holds and he is still ahead :)

Meanwhile in Alsatia, (the second battle)

davidfagnand (Pyrrhic) attackers, 11700/5360 42/39 (lose)
maximvs (Roman) defenders, 10800/2559 25/36 (win)

But even as the valiant Rhomans celebrate their hard won victory (praise be to Jupiter), news of a hostile Kappadokian fleet being sighted on the horizon makes us realise how highly valued our glorious territories must be to all these trumped-up Eastern potentates!

Second Battle of Mohawk

Englandia prevailed in an incredibly close fought contest.

Morbius/Morbio (Selucid) - lose
9,900/4,404 33/33

Englandia/davidfagnand (Pyrrhic) - win
14,100/4,820 46/47

I believe Morbio must return to Morbious?
