The Rule I/We Forget the Most.

Post by RobKhan »

I'm putting this one up as a different way of helping beginners, less experienced, or forgetful experienced players to cite cases as a help to all and sundry. I hope this is in the right part of the forum.

In all our games here in the Hamburg area, we always seem to collectively forget to conduct breakoffs with mounted against foot. We had yet another game last night when it happened again........but we are consistent and fair in our alzheimic performance.

Personally, I always need a nudge from my friendly opponents to do my re-rolls. Now the absurdity of this is that I play Mongols with lots of superior shooting. Did it again last night .

What are other peoples experiences?

we always seem to collectively forget to conduct breakoffs

Yes, we've done that a few times. It helped me a lot to follow the Turn Sequence every phase,so during the JAP "make break offs" bit I'd look around the table and sure enough there's a cav BG in combat with steady foot that's got to move back.

I always need a nudge from my friendly opponents to do my re-roll

Same here, mostly with CT re-rolls. The other day, during a game, I rolled for a CT and got two ones. " You're superior" my friendly opponent said, "you can re-roll"."Oh cheers mate, yeah" I said and promptly re-rolled two twos.

For me, it is most definitely always break-offs. I have to put a big sticker on my QRS just to remind me to do them.

Yes, break-offs and re-rolls were the ones we used to forget. I think we remember pretty much all the time now though.

Rerolling 6s for poor troops is a frequent one, probably because we all know 6s are good. we had a game at the club where my opponent had massed poor longbows. He must have rolled three dozen 6s in the game and got excited until reminded

Lot's of people seem to forget that if you only lose a melee by one that you can't double drop.

Yes, I've seen my opponents face light up when I've been beaten by one and rolled low. I've put the Disrrupted marker on without working out the numbers, and he started demanding to work out the result to check for the double drop.

Agreed, and can be a bit of a problem I think. If you forget to re-roll 1s for Superiors, then you have missed out and you only have yourself to blame. If you forget to re-roll 6s for Poors then you are cheating (albeit unintentionally).

The one I miss most often is that you cannot claim rear support from dissordered troops

You'd have to know the rule to forget it. Has anybody figured it out yet?

Generals sometimes move when 'in the way' even if their exact place on the table can change a lot
