I've been having the same problems on my pc, and have been unable to either connect to multiplayer, or access the forums here since last Friday.

I'm posting this from a friend's computer who uses a different internet provider and have accessed the forum with no problem. I'll try to access again from my home pc later this afternoon to see if the problem is still there or if it's gone.

Can you try going via the www.slitherine.com homepage and then navigate to the forums using buttons instead of a direct link to the forum. Someone else said this helped.

I've tried typing in the www.slitherine.com, making a google search and clicking on the link, and clicking on my favourites folder link. None seem to work.

I managed to access the Field of Glory TT site (the one where you can purchase the armybooks etc), but when I clicked on the forum link I couldn't connect there either.

I know I am clutching at straws here as I have absolutely no idea what is causing this problem, but this has started a couple of days after receiving the email with the link to download the beta patch for Immortal Fire. Could the 2 be somehow connected? I haven't downloaded the beta, so personally I doubt this is the cause. I'll email my internet provider to tell them about the problem, maybe it's something to do with them.

However when I try to access the site I don't get an 'access forbidden' message, but rather a 'can't make the connection' message (same as why you try to open a site and your connection is currently closed).

Check your security settings - maybe it is blocking the site in IE because it suspects the link in the mail?

Will give it a go when I get home. Fingers crossed that this might be it.

Has anyone else who has had the problem given any feedback on how (if) it was solved in their case?

Thanks.

I'm the guy who started this thread and no solution was presented to me. All I can say is that my problems have disappeared over the last couple of days. I didn't make any changes that I'm aware of to effect this. I don't think my problems were related to Slitherine but to something local, with my ISP perhaps.

Good luck. Sure hope things straighten out for you! :)

As of yesterday evening I still can't access multiplayer or the slitherine website from my pc, the problem has been ongoing for over a week now.

I've tried checking the security options on my browsers, checking if my anti-virus or firewall seems to be blocking it, and even contacted my internet provider to see if the site was being blocked from their end.

Nothing seems to solve this problem. :(

Is there a chance that my IP is being blocked for some reason by slitherine? Can't really think of anything else at this point.

We've not blocked your IP. It may be your ISP has blocked our IP. If it used to work and doesnt know something between us has changed but we've not modified the site at all.

I've already checked that possibility, but when I contacted my ISP they replied that they haven't blocked your site.

I tried an 'experiment' yesterday using my friend's laptop and my router. Using my router and his laptop, I couldn't access the site, but when I used his internet key the same laptop accessed the site with no problem.

Anyone can give me some advice if I need (how) to amend my router's settings? Sorry about all this bother, but I'm really anxious to be able to play again.

What do you mean by "internet key"?

It's one of those pendrive like devices which you can use to connect to the internet wherever you are. I'm not sure about the correct term for them but everyone around here refers to them as an internet key.

It's pretty bizarre that a router would block a single site. Does it have any built-in virus/firewall/security type applications?

Could you try googling your router blocking specific sites - it might be something someone has seen before.

Cheers

I'm going to try to reset my router later this evening and see if this helps.

I've gone through all the possibilities so far, virus scanner, firewall, ISP, my pc is not blocked from your end & internet security options. None of these seems to be the cause. I admit the router seems a long shot, but can't think of any other possibilites at the moment. When I tried my friend's laptop using my router we couldn't connect here, but when we used his laptop using his usual connection both the game and the site connected as normal.

It's the first time ever I've encountered this problem, there must really be gremlins and goblins at work in my pc! (I think I'd better laugh this one off! hehe)
