Cracking into the Skunkworks

Post by TheGrayMouser »

Maybe its bad karma to speculate on future plans that Slitherine has for FOG, but for fun, I noticed Iain posted the following in the 1.28 thread

" We have some cool new stuff coming soon that is top secret which we think will be huge. It's going in to closed beta very soon"

I will begin the wild speculations:

A) Some type of operational or campaign feature to the series (although I imagine if so, the scope of it would likly entail an addon pack as opposed to a patch, which , hint hint I would eagerly purchase with $ money)

B) some change to MP, ie true Mp meaning DAG battles fought between, for example, 4 opponents ie teams controlling part of a force vs another pair of players, would be very nice indeed!

Hopefully I have not annoyed anyone at Slitherine for making wild guesses at a vague comment made, just look upon it as yet another wishlist thread, cheers!

They're going to include that flame thrower used at Delium during the Peloponnesian War. It'll have a range of 4 hexes and incinerate entire units; available only as an ally on the Later Spartan army list.

My guess is that they will finally integrate the DAG with the Scenario Creator so that we can finally use all those historical armies in user made scenarios with custom made maps!!

A campaign module, where battle maps can be linked together would be cool. I mucked around with the Magna Graecia campaign and the pre-generated battle maps allowed terrain to be included as part of the operational planning. However so that a player could not setup the 'perfect' operational move, we instituted a house rule for variable march rates using a die roll.

but I imagine the skunkworks factor will be something mundane like bringing forward some of the most requested FoG features.

either way it is a win-win :)
