Rear Support w Mixed BGs?

In front:

two wide, three deep: 4 Roman HF + 2 LF bows x 3 (so 3 such BGs side by side).

Behind:

centred, so left file is partially behind lefthand BG up front: 6 Roman HF + 3 LF bows.


Is/are the BGs up front getting rear support since there are 3 bases behind the front lefthand one? Or no, because only two of those support bases are HF and one is LF which doesn't count?

It is an interesting question.

However, the rules don't state LF don't provide rear support, they state non skirmishers provide rear support (pg 135).

On pg 18 skirmishers are defined as "battle groups entirely of Light Foot or Light Horse"

So therefore - yes the LF do count towards the number of bases needed to provide rear support. As long as the other quality criteria is met of course.

I would agree, they fight frontally as HF until you end up with a LF bow in the front, so why wouldn't they count for rear support... not that my main opponent needs any more help out there...
