Question on morale loss for France

Post by Aryaman »

Hi
Playing 1.05 it seems that morale loss for France when Germany declares war on Belgium has changed, is it supposed to work depending on different circunstances? I can´t find anything in the 1.05 manual

yes, as I understand it, if you DOW Belgium in poor weather, you do not get the DOW benefit on units in France. I dont think the manual has been updated yet as this was a minipatch change I think.

Ok, I have declared war on Belgium with fair weather, but France still doesn´t get the morale penalty. I am playing GS 1.05 in PBEM and this is the second time it happens (I asked the first time because I wasn´t sue about dates, but this time I am deadly sure) Is there mybe a bug there?

Hi,
Are you sure it was the Central Europe weather zone that was clear?

What game turn was it?

I've just tested a DOW against Belgium in Oct 31 Clear Weather and the -20 penalty kicked in for the French, so it does seem to work in some cases at least.

It was February, I checked the weather in the Belgian hexes to be sure and there was fair time

I ran two tests. One hotseat and the other as the axis versus the allied AI. I got "lucky" in the hotseat game and got a clear weather turn on February 28, 1941. I confirmed that a DOW against Belgium did result in a 20 point effectiveness loss for units in France. In the second test, I kept playing the end of the January 19, 1940 turn until I got a fair weather turn for February 8, 1940. When I DOW Belgium the units in French again suffered a 20 point effectiveness loss.
