Report/Statistics section, What would you players want?
We have a report/statistics section in the game. We have not yet decided what should be in it. There are some ideas on stuff that would be neat to have but nothing is decided.
So, before revealing any ideas or what we planning I would want to hear what the players want. What kind of statistics would you want in the game to check every now and then?

What we want? Yes, let's see ...
1. Current OOB with unit strength, location and other stats.
2. List of all production centers, location and current output.
3. Your own losses up to present, and estimation of enemy losses.
4. Summary of present productional capacity (unless this is very clear someplace else) and production shortages caused by enemy action.
5. It would be interesting to see where your production goes (accumulated). I'm not sure whether this will assist the player much game-wise, but it would be nice to see how much production has yet been put on land forces, naval assets, air forces, supply, transportation and infrastructure. It would help some towards planning the next game and also be of very great assistance when modding or making changes to scenarios.
6. Depending a little on how intelligence is handled, it could be nice to have occasional data on enemy builds.
Well, that's what comes to mind 30 minutes past midnight. Might think of something more later on.

uxbridge covered most for me.
So far as units go i'd like to see a kill stat so you can see how well units perform against each other. Something like this but not anywhere near as complex :0) Perhaps just telling you what unit killed what so you can keep good units alive.

Statistics
I was not going to comment, but truthfully I never look at stuff like that - if the interface works well, and I think it does, it just doesn't matter really. I think the key here would be to make sure that what you build is clearly indicated and easy to manipulate. How are you going to handle production in the game? How often does it happen or is it turn by turn? How much can you build each turn?

Re: Statistics
Yeah we already have panels showing production, manpower, oil, railroad capacity and stuff plus that we have production queue and force pool, so the statistics section should really be about other stats or more detailed than in the panels we have already.vypuero wrote:I was not going to comment, but truthfully I never look at stuff like that - if the interface works well, and I think it does, it just doesn't matter really. Report / Stats???? Hmmmm, kind of hard to comment until we know exactly what you have already included.
We need more definition. Off the top of my head, the Report screen should show pertinent actions from the last turn, both your and your opponents that are not obscured by FoW. Battle losses, successes, diplomatic actions, intelligent reports, etc.
As far as stats, if you mean for units, things like battle accolades, experience levels, training and equipment procurements, readiness and supply, morale, etc.

No, we have unit panels that show supply, strength, and other attributes. I mean a statistics screen that you open and see graphs, tables, charts and text. Things like casualties, victory condition situation (i.e what objectives each side holds), ...seamonkey wrote:Report / Stats???? We could have stats to see how many tonnage of goods sunk by axis subs, anything that is fun to see

Any chart, to be useful, would need to indicate things that ultimately point to victory or defeat.
There could be a drop down that lists all the friendly units on the map. This could be sorted by the player according to unit type, strength, nationality and all the other variables that make up a unit.
You click on that unit inn the list and it takes you to the unit on the map.

New from the Front
For game flavor, you could add sort of "headlines" like "Paris Falls - French Surrender" and other notes of significance when various events take place. That could then sort of create a time-line of the war as well as something you could spiffy up with newspaper headlines and other stuff to make it look good and create a historical feel.
