first impressions..

Post by pomakli »

Hi folks!

I tried to write a readable “first impressions” – report!

The game depicts 3 different areas of World War 2.

There are 3 campaigns and totaly 26 scenarios

Campaign areas are

Desert with 7 scenarios

Normandy with 10 scenarios

and

Bulge with 9 scenarios

Of course there is a tutorial campaign with 2 scenarios so that you can learn the basics.

Even beginning players will be able to play the game, without reading the rules again and again.

The first scenarios in the campaigns have prescribed forces, but from the second one you can buy new units depending on your points!

In my opinion the lack in the campaigns is the fact, that the victory or loss of the active scenario doesn’t effect the points in your next scenario, because they are also prescribed!

But don’t worry, you can modd everything!

There will be also stand-alone scenarios and of course the editor allows you to make every possible scenario with every possible terrains!

The game has the comic look and is actually a “Sandkastenspiel”; but the look shouldn’t irritate you!

It’s easy to learn but hard to master!

What I personally like, is the broad range of vehicles.

You’ll find tanks, SPG’s, AT guns, each kind of artillery, each kind of infantry units, transport vehicles, AA guns, and so on!

In my opinion, there could be some additional vehicles for italians; but wait and see!(By the way I am not an italian!)

The main forces are, german, american and british! I mean, english and canadian! There are other nationalities like, italians and polish!

Who knows, maybe there will be some additional forces too! (I believe, the french support is on the way!) If the game will be a hit, why not expansions with russians and japs!!!

But thats not enough. There are “out of map” – support, like planes (dive and bombers), bombardment (naval, and army-battery, even german nebelwerfer!) and additional bonus, in form of first aid, experienced commanders, and so on.(There will be more!)

One of the essential points in the game is the MORALE. With each destroyed enemy unit your units gain morale and with each enemy fire they lose!

That means, unexpected fall backs, even, routs or surrenders of weakend units!

Your units can sneak, so that they can discover enemy units without self discovered and give you new tactic options!

Use your bonuses and out of map support, so that you can smash the enemy without heavy losses!

Units with more kils get experience points and additional abilities, like getting sniper for infantry units!

The pro’s of the game are the editor and the multi-player feature! (What do we gamers want more?)

Oh yes; the game is turn-based with squares.

To cut a long story short:

You know “Slitherine!”. They make good games; with fun and fast-smooth play!

Thanks Slitherine! (for an another good game!)

Moved back into the beta forum:

The game is still under NDA - meaning you should not discuss or talk about it in the public forums or anywhere other than here. I appreciate the enthusiasm and the desire to let people know about the game if you are enjoying it, but we generally have a plan for releasing information that we want to stick to.

We'll let you guys know once the NDA has been removed and you can let people know about the game as much as you want!

Cheers

Pip
