wheeling to contact flank but not a flank charge

Tim I read your first game on madaxeman from faenza. Very enjoyable read as always. I have been visting the site most days awaiting yoru next writeup.

You make a point where the enemy elephants avoif combat becasue your legions cannot wheel to contact flank. I dont think this is correct. I think you just cannot wheel for a flank charge. it wasnt a legal flank charge so you shoul have been able to wheel slightly, contact the elephant flank and then in the movement phase conform to the elephant fron edge.

Anyone else care to confirm?

You can wheel to contact the flank if under 1 inch as a frontal charge and then conform on the front edge.
