Questions on mixed BGs

Post by zajacmwz »

Played a few games now and looking for clarifications:

1 - Situation - mixed BG of HF spear front rank and MF bow rear rank.

a. How does the bow MF contribute to close combat - they do not possess a close combat weapon. I understand the impact phase and their suppot shooting but the melee phase is unclear.

b. How does this unit exchange ranks - i.e. to place bow in front to maximize shooting then swicth spear to front for close combat? I don't see a rule for when / how ranks interpenetrate one another.

2 - Situation - all MF bow BG.

a. How do they fight in close combat?

Thanks.

They fight as if exactly the same as their own base in contact to their front. They add a dice at the same POA(they normally cost the same points) The problem comes when a front rank base dies and they end up in the front. In your example the spear would get no POA as they are not 2 ranks. So another loss for the BG.

They dont need to. Since the front rank does not shoot they are the first shooting rank, so get 1 dice per base at effective range.[/quote]

With whatever POA's they have. Usually none, unless they have a sword. 1 dice per first 2 rank bases

POAs are determined by the front rank element in contact.
