Supporting an elephant's rear

Post by zoltan »

A BG of elephants sits two models wide.

What is the minimum number of friendly bases that must be to the elephant BG's rear to count as rear support? I figure it is 1 base, and that base need only be the ubiquitous GT partly directly to the rear of said elephant BG.

Thus one BG of 6 MF 3 wide and 2 deep can give RS to 3 elephant BGs in line abreast.

Or one BG of 8 MF 8 wide and 1 deep could give RS to 6 elephant BGs.

Have I got this right?

Just so for the 3 BGs.

The 8-wide MF can only support 5 BGs if in a single battle line.

Don't elephants count as two models? Therefore wouldn't you need two bases to claim rear support?

Isn't that only for "xHPB" purposes?

Has anybody seen an Elephant BG break through cohesion rather than base loss?

Do Elephants do as two models per figure for xHPB in close combat as well as shooting?

I think I may have been making a big mistake in not factoring in an Elephant BG is considered to be four bases for xHPB.

Remember also they only count the front rank base for HPB calculation per the rules

Actually it was the thread title that made me laugh, thinking of actual elephants.
