I had to correct the second battle, please check for the corrections on the main page. Its Aragon (not Castile) v. Aquitaine.

Being a kind and benevolent Duke, I have sent my troops home for winter to be with their wives and families.

We will save you some cookies for you to snap later.

Joyeux Noel my dear Brittany.

Cowardly Normans

The Duke of Normandy's armies are acting true to their name - girl guides indeed.

What is happening in Bordeaux and Gascony? Have the armies decided to co-habit without battle?

100YW BAttle Phase

Post by Scarz »

We have had a lot of questions this battle phase, so I thought I woul try and answer them all if possible here.

First, I mistaken wrote Castile, when it was Aragon in the battle with Aquitane. That error should be fixed now.

Secondly, I also made a mistake when I posted the Normandy retreat. I didn't look at the map, and should have caught that he must go to Brittany, not Maine, as enemy troops moved from Maine to Anjou. Also, the rules were a little too tough on the eliminations for lack of retreats. If they had been enforced as written the campaign would have been basically over in the first year. I was trying to make it through the first year, and then post some possible changes, and let you guys weigh in on how you would like them to work. My suggestion will be to change it to the way I made it work for England. Thus, you can retreat if its to a home or allied province (ie still your color dot) but can not recruit the following season.

Finally, England's two armies are inside his castles in Bordeaux and Gascony, both are under siege.

In Toulouse its Aragon vs. Aquitaine with Genoa looking on, as they failed a roll to join the battle.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Fall Vacation :)

*Tours the wine cellars of Alsace before regirding loins to pounce on the fiends beseiging Lorraine. Knew the dogs would be too tempted with the thoughts of castle plunder and worse to realize they should have pounced on the Duke of Bar...now the full might of Burdundy and its vassals shall grinde them into the grounde.*

*Hmmmmms...notices the road to Luxembourg open... *

The Pope is going on summer vacation soon, and things will really slow down until around August as I will be in and out for the next couple months. My hope is that we can make it to Winter, get everyone one their incomes, and then pause a bit for some new rules, changes etc, before kicking off the next year.

So please be thinking of any change suggestions etc.

We have only one battle this phase, between Aragon and Aquitaine. I am leaving from Wends till Monday next week, but this battle might be over before, and I can advance us before, if not, as soon as I return.

Battle of Toulouse
The Aquitanian army sallied from Toulouse Castle in a desperate manouver. Fortunately, the Genoese army remains passive while the Aquitanians face the Aragonese army
Still, it is a fairly balanced battle, with about 40k each army. The Aquitanians deploy English archers covering the right and center, with English dismounted knights in second line as support. They face Aragonese Infantry (lancers) in the right and mounted Knights in the center. The Gascon mounted Knights, supported by some Gascon swordmen and Irish Kerns hold the Aquitanian left, facing the redoubtable Almugavars.
On the right, the English archers manage to inflict great losses at long range, so that the Aragonese infantry never stodd a chance. However in the center things are going otherwise, the Aragonese knights charged and routed the English archers. English dismounted knights sent in support are easily routed by the Almugavars, however the Gascon cavalry countercharged and saved the day, routing in turn the Almugavars. In the end some 15k Aragonese losses against 10k English losses. A much needed victory for the duke of Aquitaine!

Hi guys, sorry for the long silence, just rolled back into town this morning. Its sure good to be back, but I will be heading out again this weekend.

Not sure on the holdup for the final battle, seems we have a missing kingdom. I will try and get it going before leaving again.
