I can't recall playing any FoG army with success  - well not consistently anyway. I have played a number of armies, enjoyed them and had reasonable success though. And the Akkadian are quite good:

6 Av LF Bow
6 Poor LF Bow
6 Poor LF Sling
8 Poor Mob, no weapons
2 x 8 Poor, Prot Drilled HF, Def Spear
4 x 8 Average, Prot Drilled HF, Def Spear
8 Superior Unprotected Drilled HF, Heavy Weapon
8 Superior Unprotected Drilled MF, Bow
2 x 8 Superior Protected Drilled MF, Offensive Spear
4xTC
800 points

The basic tactic was a line of all the defensive spear (poor in the middle, supported by mob). The superior troops would be a terrain strike force, and try to get the HW guys into something they can fight.

I am on the brink of ordering an entire army myself but am balking at the number of def spear to paint. Have you tried the average LCh? I was thinking a BG or two of them may be handy on an exposed wing.
