Re: Immortal Fire Expansion
Hmm, the website has a release date of Mid July so a little more than 3 weeks.....Gunjin wrote:With just over 3 weeks to to the release of Immortal Fire, any news on what is planned as new features ect we can exspect to see?
Check out the roadmap sticky for additional features in this and other expansions.
Well, when we can see screens from the army add-on??? post many images and try to cover more armies not like in SoA hehehe.
I read about a change in anarchy charges that prevent this... well, expect it because is frustrating try to envolve enemy flank and see a superior pike unit in anarchy to poor archers when you try to change units orientation... and IF have pike units no??? hehehe.
PD: original i dont like IF but i see that in RoR i play more with pike armies

I am really looking forward to IF as well. Some pictures of what the armies are going to look like would be great! I just hope that too many figure images were not just re-used from RoR. I like the variety of having different figures. I especially like how colours are used to differentiate a units quality. Helps me easily keep track of what's what in my legions.
In my opinion, the more variety the better, even with light infantry units. I don't like seeing the same slingers in half-a-dozen different armies.

Ummm i remember that they say that in the next beta, problems with the SoA beta are solved and dont need do a second install to play multyplayer if your opponent dont have the beta... well, isnt a problem for me because dont have preorder after 1.2.5 patch i am very dissapointment with anarchy charges and pike units and i think that IF have pikes hehehe.
Well, waiting for the screenshoots, with a good selection and if Slitherine change in anarchy charges works.... even i can preorder

Just curious, maybe some table top players could answer: what differences are there between say late Mac(as in ROR), Alexandrian Macs and Succesor State Macs (which will arrive w IF) are there ?
I assume mostly quality of cavalry....
Will Succesor states be one list or will there be futher finetuning ie Antiginus One Eye, Ptlomey etc
Cheers!

Alex gets some elite companions, prodrompoi, superior agrainians and hypaspits and average pikemen -- that's the main difference. Early successors are all on one list but are broken out by types. These are similar to later successors but for example Seleucids get lancers instead of cats and a few more thorakai. Nothing too major.
The Greco-Barctrians are very interesting and the Punics get chariots. There are several variations of persians that are intrigueing. And there's early Greeks in variety. All in all, a much better supplement than SOA in my opinion.

In the TT lists, there is one list for Alexander and Phillip and a second list for the early successors. There are some variations by date in the Alexandrian list with the major break points being around the time of the invasion of India. Before this there are more Greek/western troops available to supplement the Macedonians. After this date more eastern troops such as Skythian and Bactrian LH, and elephants are available. The early successor list has some troops where the allowed amounts vary according to which successor army is in use. Biggest differences from later is that there is more lance armed cavalry available, no cataphracts, and no armoured MF.TheGrayMouser wrote:Just curious, maybe some table top players could answer: what differences are there between say late Mac(as in ROR), Alexandrian Macs and Succesor State Macs (which will arrive w IF) are there ?

The Diadochi period has always interested me although my knowledge of the details is a little fuzzy.
