Yes Morbio if there were any nice looking women in the wastelands we had them move out and shipped a few of the uglier ones we found on our way there, just for you. Hope you enjoy your stay

Battle for the West Indies

Post by iversonjm »

In the first phase of retribution for Morbio's treacherous assault on Crimea's ally, Crimea prevails in the West Indies:

Crimea: 48000/10896, 34/64 WIN

Morbious: 42500/19715, 46/43 LOSE

(game was tighter than the numbers suggest)

The Horde settles down to a feast of pineapples and coconut juice. Frankly, they preferred the Carthaginian elephant steaks. They await word as to whether Morbio will continue his defiance in a second battle.

 I'm reading this at work, so I guess the last round went really bad for me! I mean, really bad.... At the end of my turn I think we were about 34 break points each, so it must've been a real collapse! I was expecting this, but I thought it might be a turn later. My troops were just spread too thinly, and losing cohesion and once pikes lose cohesion they go down fast!

I'll wait for God to decide what I've got left to defend the land, I suspect it won't be more than a few old men and children with pitchforks!

Rhome tour third stop

Post by batesmotel »

Battle: Lesbos
Attacker: Phanagoria (batesmotel)
Defender: Rhome (maximvs)

Defender results: Win (38/48)
Initial Army Size: 39,500
Losses: 12,069
?/500

Attacker results: Loss (55/54)
Initial Army Size: 44,000
Losses: 16,518
500/500

Rhoman Lesbians show more backbone than expected! Using an army with minimal legionaries and a maximum of Lesbian auxiliaries, the Rhomans have temporarily halted the Phanagorian tour of Lesbos!

Battle Results

Utopian Invasion of Samnium

Utopians: 24,000/4,035 12/31 WIN
Romans: 31,500/12,989 28/27 LOSE

Roman camp taken.

Commentary: After a bloody draw (particularly for the Utopians) the armies met for a second time. The Utopians expected to be heavily outnumbered. However, whilst licking their wounds from the first battle, the perfidious Romans were visited by a plague which evened things up somewhat.

Still, the Romans could field an impressive number of their zombie-like legionaires which could be decisive against the more expensive Utopian troops. Deeter Magnus pondered his dilemma till the answer became clear. Using the remarkable Seleucid ability to morph into different army types, He decided to go all shooty, taking only the barest minimum of pikes, all the cav he could get and a thick cloud of slingers who would do all the slaying.

At first, all went well for the Utopians who steadily bled the Romans, but then a catafract launched an anarchy charge into the face of all the Roman triarii! Unaccountably, the charge went well so all the cats joined the melee slaughtering their foes. Meanwhile, the Roman foot managed to catch the few pikemen on the field. Here too fortune smiled on Utopia as the HF all went fragged in short order.

Deeter Magnus offered the Romans an honorable withdrawal from Samnium, but his magnaimity was rebuffed. He is awaiting word of his new strenght from above before deciding his next step.

Give us the plaugue and then speak of magnamity ??? Such insolence
We will fight until the last drop, or at least until we lose 2 battles per the great ones orders.....

Hopefully we will get a nice swampy map to fight on, btw no morphing is aproved by the Great One
I expect to see the same troops that came after me last time

No morphing? I didn't realise this. Acutally, I didn't take anything for the second battle that wasn't in the first one. Am I to understand that I can only take troops for the third battle that were in the second?

Yeah, you would basically just remove units from the prior battle until your ap's drop to the new limit, no swapping around etc I usually just save as the army I used in battle one, drop the guys down and name it battle #2 or something to remember which one to load

Load the original army you used in the previous battle. Then remove things you had paid for until you are down to the amount you need to reach. Don't add anything new.

Actually the mid rep list is odd that hastati/princeps are what you purchse and velites and triari are automatically fed/added into the #'s proportionally , you cant fine tune it

Fortifications - Allowed morph

Post by batesmotel »

Peter has rules it is legal to trade in extra troops for a follow-on battle in order to buy fortifications not present in the original army. The point total including the fortifications must conform to the revised point total.

Maybe that option should only be available to the defender (ie owner of the province).

That was probably his intent. In the case I know about it was the defender purchasing them.

Yeah, there were a bunch of LF that got caught in a net between formed troops on one side and a mass of skirmishers on the other. They evaded from the formed and then got hit in the rear by the skirmishers. With that, the camp, and some other units caught in the rear it got ugly quickly. Again, great game, and fun at least from my perspective. :D

You can change your leaders (inspired, troop, field), add/remove fortifications but nothing else.
As it's a campaign it would be difficult to argue fortifications are only permitted for a defender so if they are in your army list you can use them.
