And there are games for those people - they are called boardgames.

FOG is a miniatures game. The hobby is miniature wargaming. A big part of the hobby is the visual appeal of painted miniatures. If you don't want that aspect then you are in the wrong hobby.

"There are plenty of people who enjoy the strategy and tactics, but have no interest in modelling or painting"

Sounds like the original Kriegspiele to me....

I must say figures do look better. Even craply painted ones. I had the joy of playing against some form of lancer riding a zebra painted solid brown with a red and white lance....my opponents arguement; they were African chocolate candy doom-knights :P I'd rather at least have the feeling I am fighting against soldiers than little pieces of paper. Markers are good for testing and stuffing around but thats about it

>No, u are just incapable of reading. I've been painting models since I was a kid, I have painted armies, tons of figs ready to be primed and figures on order.

Ha! Funnily enough I did read where you said that. And funnily enough, I can't think where I said anything that suggests you have no painted figures or have never played with them.

>There are plenty of people who enjoy the strategy and tactics, but have no interest in modelling or painting

That's fine too. I also said you should feel perfectly free to play with counters with such people, and allow them to do likewise.

Your attitude however seems to be that you have the right to inflict counters on boring traditionalists who unreasonably expect you to use painted figures even though you (apparently) don't want to. How dare they!

Or do you want to play with figures and allow your opponents not to?

I have to say, it's quite hard to actually follow what you are arguing for and about, and I am not sure what answer would have satisfied you. The descent into abuse is a bit boringly deja vu though.

Diplomacy isn't my strong point but:
He was involved in a thread with some of the more caustic members of this 'fraternity' so may have felt defensive.
We cannot tell if anyone is a newbie or just reincarnating themselves. But reading a thread including points cost for ally generals he may not be that experienced a player
The accused may not be that experienced in forums.
This is a very close forum. Most of us have met, or at least met someone else that you have had a game against
When typing it is VERY DIFFICULT to get your point across in a way that you really mean. AND what you think is OK may seem VERY OFFENSIVE to others. Sorry for shouting
I would hope we could try and encouage people to post and enjoy the game with a bit of friendly banter and advice.
So piss off

He said was on here previously under a different login name and was an experienced player, having played over 50 games.

Actually no arguing about anything, and yes I have no issues playing with figures and my opponent using counters else I would not have been discussing the issue in the first place silly buns.

I find it hard to follow me as well, I must not have the right mix of the pills this week! When in doubt double the dose though!

So if I'm at my point limit how exactly do I demote an allied FC and turn it into a sub commander FC? Should I just make the points up?
A FC costs 50 points normally, 40 if an Ally.

A TC costs 35 points normally, 25 if an Ally.

So Ally FC + Non-Ally TC = 40+35=75

Non-Ally FC + Ally TC = 50+25=75

So there is no difference in points cost between the two options.

Yeah I realized that after rereading my thread on the Gaul's I am building. Basic math has defeated me!

Children, please behave - complaints have been received. BeansNFranks about you specifically, but Spike you're not exactly helping.

So just rein it in a bit please gents. Your co-operation is appreciated.

I was willing to drop the whole thing when someone gave the page # and rule stating minis need to be used. If people want to play though I don't mind. I don't think I was playing any rougher than the others.
