Finally a Chance to Catch up on the Latest Gossip

Parthians Departing?

After a series of defeats the Parthian Empire is shrinking rapidly. Only Dahae remains as a defense against the invading Pantherites. Meanwhile the Crimeans are said, after taking more Parthians land, to be preparing to invade the final area & storm the capital. The Parthian king is quoted as wanting slightly more than the small packet of aspirin so far received from his ally & is indeed calling out to the free world to send their dogs of war against these pussycats.

Samba on the Sambre

With a win each the Eupatorians and the Nervii appear to be a perfect couple after coupling together twice. Either a victory comes soon or some really dubious rumours will be spreading!

Gibbons Decline and Fall

A new local author is said to have started a monumental new work about the end of Rome. Said to have been inspired after watching Arrakis kick Rome’s ass using a mere 37000 a side v Rome’s 46500. The Imperator is no fan of fiction though.

Crimean Secret of Success

Even the Gods are wondering just how Tigranes recently managed 2 such overwhelming victories as the ones against Parthia (lost only 9% against 36%) and Carthage (18% v 46%). Can there be any truth that he is drinking those illicit pantherine & diet coke mixes?

Illegal Illiterate War Continues

The Texans and Eupatorians continue to fight it out in El Paso and Syria – lessons on how to really read that rule about only one area at a time are on their way boys. It is hoped that the invasion of Syria, following the defenders win, is ending!!!! However at El Paso a third battle may be just over the horizon.

Hidde is No Jekyll

Both Rhodes and Armenia are discovering that there is no gentle side to the Canaanites after a straight defeat each for the invaders although at one point the Canaanites had to use both hands they claim.

And Finally Cyril

The Pharaoh is said to be spitting more blood than bubbles following the defeat of his army by the Morbians in their recent invasion of his sacred Egyptian lands.

MAP and MAIL

Hey guys, I seem to be receiving mail alright on map updates, but sending is hit or miss. I will always try to confirm a change by sending some response, but if you don't hear from me, and don't see a map change as requested, please resend.

Finally, to any challenges etc, I am not ignoring you, probably just not getting the mail, just resend or throw rocks at me till I answer.

Thanks.

The Crimeans have a Slave Revolt in one of their areas - swift action will be needed to crush it before it spreads. Due to national morale they can only raise a 450 point army to face the 500 point revolt.

Additionally there has been a Barbarian Incursion into the Empire of the Pantherites. Sadly due to national morale I'm facing a full 500 points of pantherites

Once Scar gets a chance to update the map you will see an R and a B as the invaders of said areas.

Some players are making alliances currently which is fine but please note that these are informal non-binding ones which either side may break at any time. They will not appear on the Player Table (otherwise I'll get confused :? ). Only formal alliances made during the diplomacy phase are binding.

Is that important? Well it is currently for Parthia. Their sole ally, Phanagoria, is also a formal ally of Armenia - so cannot intervene in that war on either side.

Damm - got the wrong Ian - treat the above as an example. Phanagoria & Armenia are perfectly entitled to whip each other

Faster than a UK Election the LW one ended in a decisive result:-

2 areas of Hyperboria goto Parthia with 7 votes and 1 area to Texas with 5 votes.

Only 4 players bid for an area - we had two bids at 1000 each but the winner was pantherboy who bid 1001 - you see this is why he's winning - thinks outta the box (either that or he buys lots off eBay!).

The 4th bid of the princely sum of 1, yes that's one, at least made me laugh.

Due to the continued PM issues I'll leave the quiz idea for now.

Scar will update the map when he can to reflect these changes.

Thanks for taking part.

I'd really like to thank all of my supporters, you really don't know how much this means to us in Parthia. You are all welcome to drinks in Sakastan, but leave your armies at home.

Good idea and we could ask Pantherboy to contribute a couple of spare provinces for the draw as he has plenty to spare. :)

Btw assuming you have had Peter's update on reduced points I will be posting a challenge for our second battle.

The Empire of Texas would like to thank all of the clearly enlightened kingdoms that voted for Texas to receive one of the provinces.

Thanks, love you all.

petergarnett wrote: There were some earlier posts about how many battles in an area. It takes 2 wins for an attacker to force the defender out of an area. You can fight more than 2 battles in order to achieve this but with 500 point armies after 2 such battles there is often little left - so a win each for instance may not leave enough for a 3rd battle. However I can't give an absolute ruling on this because event cards may reinforce one or both armies (or a different card may reduce an army).

I merely want to stop a player from hanging on in an area when they have clearly lost the campaign hence the only rule is that the defender may not continue if the attacker wins twice.

If you both win a battle it is unfair for me to impose a rule that there cannot be a 3rd battle.
Peter: Can you please add this ruling to the guidance thread, I don't think its there at present.
