Initial Rout Procedure

Post by TERRYFROMSPOKANE »

I have a BG of chariots that has broken due to archer fire from about a 45 degree angle off its right front corner.

Pg 100 says my BG, "routs directly away from the enemy....shooting..." While the rules concerning initial routs don't say so, I presume the evade rules on page 66 apply when determining the method to line up the chariots so they can move directly away from the archers. That would mean I would have the choice of making a 90 degree or a 180 degree turn before wheeling and heading directly away. This is important because (even with a 1 element shift) a 90 degree turn would mean I would have to burst through a friendly BG on my left while a 180 degree turn puts my new front edge far enough to the rear to be able to wheel and clear them.

Do the rules on page 66 apply or am I missing something?

Thanks, Terry G.

I believe you are correct on page 66 so I would say you can do the 180 degree turn and wheel from there. since there is no charge involved I think you can choose the 90 or 180 degree turn.
