Ancients Sale

Post by Blathergut »

Rafm is again having it's Ancients Sale. All the figures in my action reports are their multiparts.

Rafm doesn't mix well with many manufacturers, but their ranges are fairly extensive and the minis are beautiful sculpts.

Are they too big, too small or is it a matter of the sculpt?

Thanks for the info. It seems a good price to get many miniatures to complete an army.

they were sculpted back in the 80's so are true 25mm figs. Todays figs are 28-30mm and are quite a bit bulkier. Over time the demands of the market have changed. Blathergut has some foundries that he mixes in with his RAFM stuff, its not a real issue but depends on personal taste

As deadtorious said, they are true 25mm. They are proportioned as muscular though, somewhat like the 28mm Essex minis, but propotionately smaller. They are not the skinny 25mm.

I've used quite a few of them for F&IW. They mix well with Frontrank and the better proportioned Dixon F&IW, although they are bit smaller. Still, they look fine mixed in with the same units.

Thanks! I am still looking to buy some 25/28mm to do a diorama about Pydna and I am considering the idea of mixing from different manufacturers, so your commentaries are really welcomed. In fact, I don't know if anyone has posted here anything about these miniatures from Immortal. They look so great that I am considering waiting for a while to see what comes next and if they can be converted for my purposes.

I take it those are hard plastic multiparts? they do look nice indeed. There are several different companies bringing out 28mm hard plastic gaming figures now.

These are nice figures, but I just cant get used to that double crest. I think f I were to pursue any of these, that double crest would go by the way of an Exacto knife. Its just too "cartoony" for me.
