A+

J'ai aussi arbitré un petit peu quand Jérome était occupé :)
Faut savoir mettre toutes les chances de son coté :)
Pour les appariements c'est le logiciel qui s'en est chargé (mais c'est moi qui l'ai choisi :) ).

« Les Nerviens » LONG

OK, so I had to hit Europe for business around the first of May, and thought
it would be nice to try to hit a tournament or at least get some games in.
A quick search on the Slitherine site and some emails with Lionel one of the
organizers and I find that Les Nerviens in Lille is indeed putting on a
show, and the army I have with me in Korea will fit into the Medieval theme.
I conveniently find a customer in Feluy that I also need to visit, and when
my boss asks me if I need the secretary to make a hotel reservation for the
weekend I surprise him by saying I will be staying with friends in Belgium
(when you are a wargamer, I have found you have buddies everywhere). Indeed
Jacques Wilputte and his family ended up opening their house in Brussels to
me both Friday and Sunday night. Jacques and his son Nathan would both be
attending the tournament and we headed out Saturday morning for the event.

A general note: Food good, beer good, wine good, people good. We did stay
at a hotel that I am quite sure was designed by the Japanese.

My Army: Middle Plant. English. Longbow and Knights with Irish Allies, 13
BG¡¦s all TC¡¦s. Maneuver¡¦s like a pig but relatively tough upfront.
Basic Doctrine: don¡¦t get too much separation between the various BG¡¦s¡K.

Game 1: vs Matthieu Abric Ghaznavid

OK, Looks like I¡¦ll be up against Shooty Cav with some good medium foot
Dailami and the like. Possible some armored heavy foot. He wins initiative
and selects Woods! I am surprised again to see no Infantry, but maxed out
elephants! In fact, I was so happy to see Elephants and Cav out there and
nothing to threaten my Longbow I ignored basic doctrine and rushed my 2*8
and 1*6 BG of longbow with a BG of crossbow Cav out there to shoot him up.
Next thing I know 3 BG of longbow are running back to my baseline as the
elephants charged over the top. The Irish medium foot in support get
revenge and their axes carve up some elephant steak, and my knights catch a
BG of Cav, but it¡¦s too little too little too late and eventually my army
folds.

Game 2: Xavier Piron Later Hungarian

An interesting game that would be duplicated in other rounds with varying
degrees of success.
He had about 4 BG of knights, 2 of armoured foot, 1 Cav¡Kcan¡¦t remember
what else¡K..some of the knights where average drilled¡Ksome superior
drilled, and some undrilled ¡K. He swings all his knights away from my
strong longbow attack and from his right flank and center to his left flank.
I shadow his move with my small 2 Stand Household Knight BG and one other 4
Stand Knight BG. A fight develops on my right, and I manage to get one of
his knight BG¡¦s who advanced too far to charge unsupported. I win this
fight eventually taking down two or 3 knight BG¡¦s and his Cav. Meanwhile
My longbow have chased some of his light horse down and charged them forcing
them through two of the armoured spear at the table edge (I think I ended up
running two Light BG¡¦s off the table). The armoured spear than proceed to
kill this BG of longbow, but my Irish reserve and more longbow arrive to
finish them off. English win. Luck on my part being able to pull that
knight out and kill him before the rest arrive, or the game could have been
different.

Game 3: Gilles Wielgolz Taifa Andalusian
Same as previous game: 3 or so BG of knight swing around from his right to
left, while I try to bring the Household knights around to support some
longbow on that side. However before this action can get finished, a BG of
his Almughavars charges one of my skirmishers long, and ends up a little far
forward. The Irish and Lancer Cav charge them and they start getting hacked
up and fold relatively fast. His knights charge my longbow however my guys
hold him on the right¡K..and I am suddenly in trouble.. The stupid lancer
Cav (who always seem to fail CMT¡¦s every time it matters) sure enough fail
a CMT to redeploy after killing the almughavars, are charged by his knights.
They shatter in the melee, run through the Irish, who are then charged in
the rear by the same Knights, and suddenly I have a huge hole¡K¡Knever to
recover. This was a an example where my army being undrilled meant I could
never push an advantage early, or recovery after an initial victory. I kill
the knights on the right, however I am unable to get my left flank into the
fight before my knights charge to their death against his spearmen in the
center(most of my generals had been pulled away to deal with his knight
charge attack on my right.) Another excellent game against a good player,
and the English are 1-2 ƒ¼
Game 4: Pierre Alexandre Joucla Latter Ottomans

Pierre has about 3 superior armored Cav and 1 Elite, 2- 6 packs of
Jannisaries, A BG of 4 Average heavy Weapon Guys, and a BG of defensive
spearmen, and some light horse. The Battle is really of two parts - (1)
Pierre¡¦s attempt to attack my 1 BG of Longbow and Irish with all his Cav,
and (2) my Knights crashing his defensive spearmen and heavy weapon guys
while my left most longbow try to run down his flank.

My longbow do some good shooting, and my skirmishers are trying to cover the
Irish (one BG of heavy nobles is unprotected). He shoots the skirmisher up
and then charges - I think this is a mistake the skirmisher breaks but
this allows the heavy weapon Irish to come to grips with the Cav (with
overlaps) and start to hack them up. Soon the Household Knights arrive and
the Irish, Household Knights, and Longbow break 3 BG of Cav. ON the other
flank my BG of 4 superior knights charge repeatedly into his BG of 4 average
Heavy Weapon guys¡K.Hmmmmmmm looked good on paper, but eventually my idiots
go down and are killed. However my other BG of Knights make mincemeat of
some defensive spearmen when the lancer Cav hit them in the flank, and
eventually two BG of longbow show up to kill the 4 HW guys. Things are
looking good¡K¡K.except¡K¡Know the Jannisaries come to pick up where the Cav
left off. A fight insues between the Irish, Longbow, and Janissaries. One
BG of Irish and the Household Knights go down¡K..My Crossbow Cav flank
charge the Janissaries but they hold¡K¡Kand¡Kto make matters worse two of
the 4 BG of Cav rally back from Broken¡K¡Kso we finish in a draw. Another
good game against a good opponent¡K..I believe if he had just shot my
skirmishers instead of charging them off it would have been better for him,
as the unprotected Irish nobles wouldn¡¦t be able to stand against the Bow
fire for long. Second game where my longbow push was stalled due to failed
CMT rolls on my undrilled mob¡Kreally the disadvantage of the army.

I can highly recommend this tournament, and hope to get back to this part of
the world again sometime¡K¡KA special thanks to all the Les Nerviens guys as
well as all the French and Belgian players.
