Concerning the GS, I am afraid it cannot include Pacific or World War Maps. It would require code changes that I am not keen on. I allowed code changes by modders for GS since it helped turning house rules into coded rules.
Since the GS expansion is for free I have to set a limit somewhere (on the code changes).

I have decided that a reasonable limit is that the GS codewise only uses 150x72 hexes on the same area, scale and era as original CEAW. For those who did not know, the GS is not made by the developer (=me) but by a fan group allowed by me to change the code. Note that I am not adressing the script modding, scrip modding is allowed without limits.
Johan,

I would like to know if it would be allowed a pacific scenario without expanding the CEAW map but using the CEAW map editor. This way, the game code wouldn´t be affected at all. :)

Thanks.

Yes, as long as it is done with the official editor found here http://www.slitherine.com/files/ceaw/ed ... _v1.04.exe
and either with the official CEAW or official GS then it is perfectly ok.

It seems that these comments were referred to the upcoming Commander The Great War release. Now, would it be possible to know an approximate date for a pacific WW2 release?

Note that CTGW is not being developed by firepower/Johan but by the Lordz Games Studio so his comment did not refer to that. It's obvious that a scale like the Commander games is most suited for global scale wars. Anything before WW1 probably requires a smaller scale of hexes, allowing a bit more focus on low(er) scale tactics.

We at the LGS are trying to develop a flexible engine suitable for any game theme. Personally I'm eager to try various themes such as Cold War, Pacific War, European WW2 ("ceaw2") and even Greco-Roman or Medieval Japan themes. The latter would require a lower scale map of course. Don't take the order of my examples as a hint to the order of CTGW sequels though  While we're already discussing one, you won't be hearing from it until CTGW is out.
