Battle Waggons
Just want a bit off a help could'nt find it in the rules.
If a BG of 2 Battle Wagons in a coloum are moving towards an enemy to there front.
What happens if the enemy charge the top of the coloum.
From what I gather they can't be charged in the flank or rear but how would you fight the action below remember the 2 Battle Waggons are moving up the table one behind the other and the enemy unit charges the small forward side.
Hope this makes sense.

Impact occurs normally, be sure to check out POA exceptions since some troops types don't get POA's versus battle wagons. The battle wagons do not appear to get any POA's that I can find, can't shoot out the narrow front or rear edge so no shooting at the enemy on the way in.
In impact the BW would get 2 dice, same for melee. What might be throwing you off is they get 2 dice per front base width, which would mean 4 dice if contacted on the side
Battle wagons can not expand nor do they count rear bases so the front one is on its own till it dies.
As for the rear wagon.... guess it can try to move away or something but otherwise its just there to take up space and get in the way of the inevitable rout.
Think you might want to keep some friendly troops nearby to act as guards to help maybe make an intercept charge or be around to help beat on any enemy that gets too close to your battle wagons

Yes if wou want a mobile terrain piece (driving BWG around in the midst of battle tack them onto the back of other heavy foot so the two can protect each others flanks.rogerg wrote:Two dice each at impact. In the melee rounds the wagons will be overlapped because they cannot expand. You really do not want to let this happen!

S are a line of 8 spearmen - facing up
B are two BGs of BWG in column - narrow edge facing up
Hussite BW with light artillery also have the heavy weapon capability.
Battle wagons should never be alloweed to roam around unsupported on the battle field. They are best used in a solid line, or to protect the flanks of other troops. They are not tanks and should not be used as such. Alone they are very vulnerable, as are all 2 base BGs.

There are some armies that get them in 4s.gozerius wrote:Hussite BW with light artillery also have the heavy weapon capability.

True, but considering the difficulty of movement, the increased exposure to shooting and the inability to feed more bases into melee, BGs of 4 are generally not as viable as two BGs of 2. I like bookending a line of defensive spear with a BG of 2 BW at each end. The Late Medieval German City Leagues list makes this even more affordable as you can buy the spear as undrilled.

given a warwagon is crossbow/Heavy wpn variant:
do battle wagons get any form of support shooting from the crossbowmen?
At impact and melee they get the Heavy weapon POA.
Just included a couple into my 25mm German army for many cosmetic reasons
