so i have purchased:
FOG
ROR
SOA
and i keep getting stopped from installing 1.2.5 and so i tried installing 1.1.2 but that won't install either both with the message of "maybe missing components or wrong version or something something".... last versions i could install were ROR 1.1.0 and/or FOG 1.1.0 ....
ARGH....
this patchwork spiderweb of versions for 3 different components now (with a fourth on the way) is unwieldy and an evening of trying out a new game is turning into a session of why the f isn't this working.
what you SHOULD do - make the games upgradeable from inside the game like most modern games - check your version, compare to server and autoup you as it knows to do. but i have a feeling that's not possible.
so.....
in lieu of that, what you MUST DO is include a text file explicating what exactly has to be installed and in what order in order to play if one were to re-install everything FROM SCRATCH.
because it's looking like that's what i have to do.
sorry if i come across as irritable but this is just kind of mickey mouse and bs. i just want it to fing work....
jin
these system of patches is @#%%@ me off...

Sorry for the confusion.
You need to install FoG 1.0 -> Rise of Rome -> v1.2.5 -> Storm of Arrows
If you had the Matrix version you may need to install the Matrix patch 1.2.5.
New users are now being sent 1.2.5 as a new purchase so it is only existing players who have this headache. It is a pain I know, but one of the reasons is this patch has been made more complex to allow future patches to be simpler.
In future all patches will be compatible between Matrix & Slitherine.

i purchased from slitherine
and now i'm more screwed.
your instruction in the sticky post is bunk.
1. install FOG
2. install patch 1.1.2
# 2 does not work. same error message about missing this that or other. and i'll be damned if i spend the next few hours installing every combination of patches until something works.
cannot continue with install and i'm running out of patience which was a commodity that i was short on to begin with.
any help would be hot.

f it... so i decided to slog it on my own and installed 1.1.0
that worked.
but 1.1.2 still does NOT work.
these are slitherine purchases running on xp 32bit... nothing exotic.
jin
p.s. and why is there not a download link easily accessible on these forums or the site to ALL the patches... that we evidently need to get a game going? i'm getting mine from a german link that one of your in-message links on a specific patch but a general link to all patches would be good dontcha think?
p.s.2. the sticky is not working so i really hope you revise it. add EVERY version i would need to install.... cuz vanilla fog to 1.1.2 ain't workin.
that worked.

Correct - all the patches can be accessed from Downloads which is on the bar at the top of the page.
You cannot install 1.1.2 without 1.1.1 (from what I can read). It looks like the forums says you need to patch up to 1.1.2, so you would actually need 1.1.1 first. 1.1.1 installs over anything, so I think you need to install in the following order:
FoG
1.1.1
1.1.2
And then install your RoR etc as per the sticky.
Sorry for the confusion - it is certainly not as simple as we would like. I would suggest uninstalling everything before you begin again.
Cheers

thanks much... you must indeed patch UP TO version 1.1.2 before you can install 1.2.5....
now i know it must be embarrassing for you guys to have to actually EXPLICITLY mention all the patches that must be applied in order to get the new module working but it really would be best practices to be clear and explicit... both for the sanity of the end user and as an albatross around your necks until you sort it out with a better system.
what SHOULD BE on the sticky:
---------------------------------------------------------
if you want to install FOG and all modules up to the current one "STORM OF ARROWS", the install from scratch install order is this:
1. install FOG 1.0
2. install FOG PATCH 1.1.0
3. install ROR 1.1.0
4. install FOG 1.1.1
5. install FOG 1.1.2
6. install FOG 1.2.5
7. install SOA
just so we're all clear. argh....
and please please please sort out the patch situation... i don't want to have to start upgrading FOG and SOA and ROR and have all those patches starting to interfere with each other and perhaps have to refer to a flowchart of "if you fit scenario K, these are the patches you have install and in this order"!!!
jin
p.s. thanks, the patches ARE accessible from the downloads page but it wasn't obvious that i could download without purchasing... the patches should have an explicit DOWNLOAD ME button... i really shouldn't have to play hide and seek should i?
p.s.2. sorry again for being so irritable and harsh but this situation (to play my GAME for crying out loud) has gotten me in a hyper-critical, vendetta kinda mood.
