yeah, hi...this is not a reply, but an addition to what i was writing when my computer overheated for a second time! it's not usual for this to happen as its a quad core gaming beast!! the fan seems to kick into overdrive when i start to write a reply on the f5 green screen..i think 'leaston'may be onto something when he mentioned the game was running too fast on his quad core!! is it somehow 'overclocking@' mine is an 80 gig 4x 2.6 with a very good radeon ati graphics, now considering 'paul hayes 01' has a 1.66 machine with 1 gig ram...! .. oh, the rest of the message from the last post, is...error FAILED TO FETCH DATA FROM BATTLE STATE: SIZES DO NOT MATCH: state:80!= call:1 (0)...
.. on a different note just to say the game is getting more enjoyable the more i play, totally agree with 'ds wargamers' veiw, that the comic style lulls you into a cavalier approach, that you regret later lol!! also agree with 'ostwind' on the enjoyability to take your time to think out moves..removes needless stress and makes the game really fun where u have to engage brain before finger , instead of vice versa! in 'panzer tactics' (the best ever game on ds!) (and the best ever version of panzer general, except the retreat option removed!) you can click the shoulder button to go to next unmoved unit,..couldn't there be something similar incorporated here? it would save time pfaffing about looking for hard to see infantry.Absolutely love the unit buying system,.. wanted this from 'squad leader all the way through th extra gamettes they added but never really got one, and then they re- wrote the rules from scratch!! aaarrgghh! {sub point:...i cant believe how many ASL players are on this forum!! i thought i was the only one in the world}..you have a picky lot here to please!! you could probably get a degree in that game. (cross of iron is where they should have left it!! ..there! i've said it!!) would LOVE an even bigger selection of units because ASL bah blah!..please keep this in mind for add ons.. pips POWER USER quote is priceless!! i laughed myself to sleep lol!
like the way tanks absorb hits, and can miss too. the infantry seem atm ...(still early days i know) to be a little feeble vs even the lightest of tanks. shame the written messages dont need a click to make them disappear as i cant read that quickly! 'ds waegamers' comment about having a message retrieval, or 'close' box could be the solution...animation speed slider is genius pip.. i like the animations, but what a cool feature if you are running short of time with your buddy and you can in game access this! could the infantry possibly have a dig in feature to give them light cover in open ground?... love the 'perimeter' type zoom!..i know that its not staying full time, but PLEASE keep at least 3 set positions..close up, normal, and far out / overveiw.this game could be a simmering 'slow blow classic, with people buying it for years to come!! (yes, constant income!) please dont rush it out !! ( oh you haven't lol!!!) but seriously it's kind of a defining middle ground between rts and turn based, and no one has ever come up with a better solution.. i've got boxes of attempts in the loft! also a last point, dont release around SEPTEMBER 2010 cos everyone will be buying ruse ..seriously..this is just as good but in a different way..room for both of you but not at same time in a recession..i'll rant on another time about the music,.. but i'm really looking forward to this awesome game to be.. ian

There is a known bug with loading saves, no idea how we missed it! Sorry about that - I would avoid anything bar the autosave for now.
With regard to overheating, that is very wierd. If the game was running at an incorrect speed on something like yours then you literally wouldn't see things move. The actual framerate is into the 100s on my machine at work, which is probably 3 years old now. It might be that you have the vsync turned off, or you are running in a window? That means the gfx card has to throw frames up 100s if not 1000s of times a second, which might be over-stressing it?
Any system details you can provide would help in terms of how you are running the game, rez etc.
Cheers
Pip

OK, that is fine. I'm not sure why it would be running so hot - are you overclocked? I guess the issue is that we run the actual rendering as fast as the machine will allow, but it might be basically running fullbore all the time now. I will add in some slowdown when it is running super-fast to prevent that happening (although it's wierd that a game can overheat a machine!).
Thanks for all your feedback - let us know if you have any more comments.

next mission on from sandstorm.. supply dump one.. green box with star drops down like in last mission but says nothing....no audio with bomber attack on allies side,. on the west side of the allied attack (from their point of veiw), the victory point 2nd in says above it missing_ids_loc_ridge.... also green box with (yes with! dialogue in it,.. but tells of italian armour approaching AFTER they have attacked) ...now that's weird!! this time around it didnt do the empty box thang! .. still enjoying the game..i think in retrospect that 'over hazyness' i was on about in the earlier posting was just in sandstorm lol!! hmm!! was a bit slow there.
i didnt however notice the time..
7 hrs .. no wonder im tired!!

nothing really wrong with 'rearguard' and 'hold the line (oops that's toto)..i mean hold the pass!! ... 1 final observation for the evening, the mortars have been pretty useless ... i'm wandering if they might be just a smidgeon more accurate, so they actually hit something now and again..maybe it's just me..
