Routing Generals and Leader bonus.

Post by Gunjin »

Currently it seems that when a General BG routs, they still get to provide their leader bonus for cohesin tests to those BGs within there influence range.

Personally I dont think this should be the case. There should be no Leader bonuses while the BG is routing (he is too busy running to save his life). If and when they recover from rout state then they can apply there Leader bonuses. What do you guys think?

Fully agree and have said so in the past.

Assuming you are in Worthing, on the south coast of UK and not a small town in US, I'm just down the 259 in Yapton.

In the TT rules a leader is a separate base and if he is with a unit that routs he can attempt to rally them. Perhaps the rule refers to only affecting the unit he is with or those adjacent??

If he dies he causes a negative result as any nearby friends have to take a cohesion test for seeing his mightiness extinguished.

I think a routing leader should have a severely limited influence on other friends but not a negative influence, or more negative cohesion tests.

Yep I live in Worthing UK (Goring by Sea).

The Leader my not be actually attached with the BG but as far as his troops (other BG's) are conserned, he is running like the BG he is with. The leader may be trying to rally the BG he is with, but as far as the other BGs in the vacinity are concerned, all they can see is this body of men (Routing BG) running for there lives and that the Leaders standard is moving with them. So the only conclusion they could come to is that their illustrious leader is running with them.

In game turns that should mean a loss of influence untill the Leaders BG has rallied. Maybe the bonus for leaders in this cicumstance should only apply to the BG he is attached to.

But as the PC game shackles your leaders to a specific counter, unlike in the tabletop, it seems to me a bit unreasonable to apply the tabletop rule for routing leaders. I can see your arguments for, and in many ways I agree. I just think that the current state of affairs might be a reasonable middle-ground for the PC. Yes, your leader is tied to a unit, which is a restriction, but he'll continue to exert influence if routing (which is a bonus). And of course in a turn or three he'll have routed out of his influence range anyway.
