I see that my royal cousins do not listen to their oppressed masses. So be it. I will show them what oppression is all about. The war is on!
Remain to be seen if deeter is a wiser ruler of his people...

The panther is a peaceful species. We started no wars and merely retaliated in kind. Choose friendship with this misunderstood species it is far more beneficial to all concerned :D

I whooped pantherboy in a battle - it was in the same dream where Cameron Diaz said yes!

Caught up with all the posts. Everyone should have new army sizes (except one for Ianiow where I need the army start size).

Scar - for the map I believe Gaia Hesperis was conceded to Empire of the Panthers. Also an Armenian area has been ceded but Ian has not told us which one.

Doing the Lost Scrolls next (I didn't realise that this was the title of the latest expansion for TT FoG!)

Then I'll try to figure out who is still at war with whom.

Stats are:-
24 battles fought. We've had 2 where players lost 39%.
Of the 24 battles the invaders won 11 & the defenders 9. Four were drawn (but 3 of those were resignations  ).

Summer is approaching (past the minimum turns now & on the rolling to see if last turn has happened part).
The seasonal turn will include doing the Build phase we skipped in Spring - with any builds ready in one season instead of the usual two.
Army maintenance means you'll need to pay for any army in the field or disband it. Equally you can recruit any field army back to 650 points. This means if you're defending and the invader is perhaps stalling for a chance to build their army up again then now might be the time to issue a challenge & drive them out of your lands!

National Morale

Rome & Morbius are in the Green zone - that will have a positive effect upon taxation and will reduce the chance of revolts etc.
4 other players are close.

No-one has dropped into the Red zone although 2 are close.

Pantherboy is not only in the Green zone but has actually reached Gold thanks to all those victories. This means that he is exempt from rolling on the revolt table. However beware of the Gods view of mere mortals eclipsing them

Game Mechanic Question

Post by TheGrayMouser »

Just want to clarify the game rules:

If two armies are fighting a contested province, ie fighting battle 2 or 3, and the season ends, does this mean both sides can top off the 2 armies back up to 650 points at the beginning of the new season?
What if the battle started before the season ends but the actual game itself isnt completed?

Also, are alliances for 1 full calender year ie summer to next summer or do they always expire spring?

To Blathergut, ianiow and deeter:
I want to hold my challenges untill summer season starts(hopefully real soon).
If any of you already issued a challenge and have to pay maintenance(not sure about the rules :? ) I hope we
can arrange something tomorrow when I'm back at my usual computer.

To Pantherboy:
I've made a post over at the League thread. Why don't we start there and see how it goes... :P

Lost Scrolls

26 Rounds Not Out

In Colchis there occured a marathon battle of 26 turns between the forces of Egypt and the defending Kappadokians. Losses were almost equal (28% & 27%) but neither side could force a decisive result. The armies are said to be re-grouping for another long day.

Desolated of Rhome

In the Plains of Desolation the invading Rhomians failed in their attempt to defeat the smaller army of Rhodes. The losses of 39% may well be enough to make the Rhomulan emperor catch the next camel home. Rhodes lost 24%.

When Not in Rome

In yet another successful attack the Romans beat the Armenians at Haik. However despite inflicting 32% casualties they have not yet done enough to force Tigranes to the peacetable. In turn he gave the Romans more than a bloody nose with 25% losses. A further battle is underway we are told.

Since you have insulted the king of Armenia, who is more regal intelligent and worthy than yourself we have found that out of a duty we must toss the fouled papyrus of war at you, followed by the slapping of your ambassadors face with the white gauntlet of disgust. We are making an official declaration of war against your Imperial selves, tell general Minimus he has a new invasion to deal with. Armenia we are your good and loyal friends, the holy upholders of your trust and in this time of need are coming to your aid. We are currently consulting with the high priests and checking our clay tablets to make sure we don't have any religious dates or previous commitments, then it is off to Holy War!!
Please tell your peasants to toss out all idols and shut down your temples, soon they will have a new boss to pay taxes to :P
Ah noble Conventers, it appears you have been duped by your ally, for did not the king of Armenia inform you that peace could have been in the offering if but asked for? Instead he continues, nay expands the war by invading our lands and calling upon yourself to do what he could not. We shall meet your hosts in Liguria. The world knows what arms Mid Republican Romans do battle with, what manner of troops do you draw upon?

What levels of disgust these Romans display , was it not you who fouled our great and noble lands with your armies of war in the first place ! , was it not you who decided to wage war against us and our peaceful ways !
Yet even after your massive losses you choose to continue , not even hinting at a peaceful solution.
We will meet you in the valley of death and take you to hell with us. HUSSAR !!!!
The King of Armenia Welcomes it honorable neighbour the Covenanter Empire and raises a goblet of wine in their honor !

hic...
Ah king of Armenia , perhaps you were under the cups when offerings of peace were hinted at.....
What dost this imply? : " Rome will await word from the Lord of Armenia if he wishes to continue the fight."
If Rome was acting agressively we wouldnt have said the slightest, and merely sent additional armies.
Is it too late for peace? Armies have not yet reengaged in Haik, nor have our forces done more than a trifle skirmishing in Geminiacum... Nor have we seen any Conventer armies near our borders...
Rome too has allies.... So as not being accused of subtlety, we will speak plain: What does the King wish to do? Fight or settle?

Armenia, fear not faithful friend the Covenator army has posted the challenge and is in the field. We can only hope to match the deeds of the defeaters of Romanism. As for Roman claims we are not about in his lands, we send forth a post papyrus from Samnium. Look for us there oh near sighted Roman, and you will see our glorious host arrayed upon the fields waiting patiently for you to appear.

News from the front...

Post by deeter »

Utopia recently invaded the Texican province of Lubbock in solidarity with our Seleucid brothers of Morbius. In response, the Texas Empire invaded our province of Rhodes and the initial battles have been fought. In a classic pike matchup, the Utopian army prevailed in Lubbock (with the help of a very unfortunate rout routine by the Texicans which destroyed their phallanx in short order. The Texican commander, realising all was lost, ordered a general retreat (resigned) with losses of about 12,000 against losses to the Utopians of about 7,000.

The Utopians were also successful in repelling the Texican counter-invasion, breaking their army, killing their commander and sacking their camp. Texican losses were about 18,500 against 7,500 Utopians lost. We have offered to negotiate with the Empire of Texas and awaiting a reply before we continue with hostilities.

Clearly, fortune smiled upon Utopia this day -- as well it might!

Hmmm seems some one has been keeping up with sacrificing sheep to their Gods.
These battle reports make one feel like staying at home with the concubines instead of going off to war doesn't it

Peace declared!

Post by deeter »

Let it be known that the Empire of Texas has ceeded Lubbock to Utopia and that these two mighty nations are now at peace and on relatively good terms. The Texicans have agreed to withdraw their invasion force. Let this be the dawn of a new era of Utopian/Texan friendship.

It has also come to our attention that some upstart Canines have declared war on Utopia and then have asked that the war be postponed. It is all the same to Utopia. We shall crush you either way, but being benevolent people, we shall not be the first to strike a blow.

Lost Scrolls

Mixed Fortunes for Rhodes

At the Slave Pits of Rhodes there was great slaughter of the invading Texans with losses of 35% to the Rhodians mere 21%. But what the gods give with one hand the player loses with the other. Their own attack upon Morbius met with defeat in North Karana with Rhodes losing 36% to the Morbians mere 18%. The Rhodian leader vowed to teach both enemies many further lessons - peace it appears not being one of them.

Lost Scrolls

The Panther Strikes Again (& Again)

With a mere pause to sharpen their claws the Pantherites have again laid low many of their enemies:-

The Eupatorians were defeated in 2 battles. Their invasion of the Empire of the Panthers was defeated in battle with losses of 32%. Whilst their defence of their own lands in the counter invasion was also defeated with further losses of 30%. The Pantherites barely worked up a sweat losing only 13% & 10%.

The Crimeans faired better - oh they still lost but at least took home a few more panther skins. Their invasion cost them 33% to the defenders 20% whilst their defense of the Dneiper Frontier failed with a loss of a massive 39% to the Pantherites 19%.

Rumour has it that all now look to noble Phanagoria to finally defeat the Emperor of the Panthers.
