I know many people dislike out of era match ups, but I find them fascinating. I am disappointed that the system currently allows them only through custom scenarios, though I can see that if open challenges were to allow such anachronistic pairings, there would have to be some opt-out mechanism for historically minded players issuing challenges.

I have issued a challenge based on a custom scenario pitting Swiss Pikemen against Macedonians and would be interested in people's views. Accepting it would also check whether the exchange of custom scenarios works under SoA as it does under RoR

I see match-ups from different books works for Multiplayer but not yet for Single player DAG games

Also, when challenge appears it is not evident whether other player is restricted to same book or not. It might also be desirable for there to be a way for the challenger to require that the other army be from a different book
